1. If that is true, either way (i.e. stays at Texas or goes to Alabama) Sarkisian is in line for a huge increase in salary.

Report: Steve Sarkisian is the Big 12's fourth highest-paid head coach, No. 30 in college football​

Sarkisian, currently in year three of a deal that has him on the sidelines in burnt orange through the 2026 season, is scheduled to make $5.6 million in 2023 with the potential to earn $825,000 in bonuses. Sarkisian has already earned $25,000 in bonuses, according to USA TODAY.

2. If the money is equal I'd consider Texas the better job. 1) Flagship school in a "football crazy" state with no lack of 5 star recruits, 2) Texas doesn't have a state income tax, 3) lack of NIL money is not a problem at UT, 4) Austin has to be a better place to live than Tuscaloosa, and 5) Texas barbeque is better than Alabama gumbo or whatever they have.

Yeah, I think Sark had to prove he could keep his demons at bay, which he’s seemingly been able to do.

You are right though, he’s got a big payday coming.

anyone with access to google and about 11 seconds of spare time could figure out he wasn't leaving.

he's already making $7.4 mil per year. Saban was at $10.7, so I'm sure his number would have been below that (no way they pay him MORE than they were paying Nick). So while it's obviously a very nice raise, it won't be like LSU tripling Brian Kelly's ND salary.
he has a $20 million buyout if he leaves voluntarily for another job.
the Big Ten TV deal is worth more than double what the SEC's deal is worth.
with 12 teams in the Playoffs, Oregon should be in more often than not.
plus as already mentioned, Oregon has Phil Knight money.

on top of all of that, if you do what he's done at Oregon, you get a big fat raise and an extension.
if you do that same thing at Alabama, the fans start getting restless and that seat begins to heat up.

and let's be real.

Oregon's realistic expectations are to compete with:
tOSU, Ped State, Wiscy, those schools following them over from the Pac, and some other school up that way I can't seem to remember.
Not beat all of them. Beat enough to be in contention for the conference CG on a regular basis.

at Alabama, you're expected to BEAT (realistic or not):
LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, and now at Texas and OU to that mix as well.

even Nick Saban was only able to beat everybody on his schedule twice in 17 years.

Would Gruden Consider Going to College?​

Gruden’s made a lot of money from his days as a coach and ESPN analyst. He could easily just ride off into the sunset and forget about football completely. However, Gruden isn’t wired that way. He’s famous for having an intense work ethic and a love of the sport. It’s likely too soon for him to consider jobs right now but it wouldn’t be a surprise if he tried to make a comeback in the future.

College could be a smart play for Gruden. He’s too toxic for the NFL right now but there are a lot of college programs that might be willing to give him a chance. He has his faults as a coach but he’s a strong offensive mind and could actually be a good fit in college. His style of coaching could resonate better with young players than it did with veteran pros.
