Former NHLer Adam Johnson had his neck cut by a skate tonight. Things aren't looking good. No confirmation of anything yet, just rumors. The rumors are the worst news. What seems to be factual is that the game was abandoned due to "a major medical emergency." He collapsed on the ice before making it back to the bench, apparently there was a lot of blood. They put up screens around him.

Hope he is ok.

EDIT: I saw the video and.... well I hope he got medical attention IMMEDIATELY. A lot of blood was an understatement. What I've read so far is that it took about 10 minutes for him to get treatment... ugh

The video is easy enough to find, I'm not gonna post it.

This video stops before the horrific part. It's about the play itself. I don't think he intended to kill him but this doesn't look like an accidental kick. For what it's worth the player who did it - Matt Petgrave - led that league in penalty minutes and DQs last season. Police are now investigating.

Totally reckless in a best case scenario. My initial reaction was "what the fuck is that guy thinking?" The police are investigating the incident (but I assume this would happen no matter what).

It looks more violent in real time too. But the slow-mo allows us to see what's going on. Not a good look.
