    • It really looks like there will be a lockout on September 15th when the current CBA expires.

    Of course Buttman and Fehr have canceled any further talks and there is nothing on the schedule between now and then.

    If the league goes into an extended lockout, the league will be finished for all intents as purposes.
     
    I'm hoping that both sides realize they can't afford another lockout and just get it done. Come on, guys. Don't be stupid. Hockey has actually been gaining popularity. You have some great players from all over the world to carry the sport, don't shit on the fans again, so soon.

    This would hurt the city of Columbus, too, with the all-star game looking like it's going to get cancelled. Even if they only miss a couple weeks of the season, I'm pretty sure the all-star break will be cancelled to get a full season in.

    Columbus could lose NHL All-Star Game if lockout lingers. Canceling the All-Star Game is not without precedent; Gary Bettman, et al, sacked the 2005 events in Atlanta. Announcement of the move came in mid-November of the aborted 2004-05 season. Columbus can expect similar treatment.

    The PA proposal was very reasonable. They were never going to foot the entire bill for the teams that are bleeding money. The fact that there's going to be a lockout because Montreal, Toronto, Philadelphia, etc. are telling everyone to fuck off about revenue sharing when the league is growing at the rate that it is is sad/hilarious to me.

    NEW YORK -- The NHL has canceled all preseason games through Sept. 30, the league announced Wednesday.

    It is believed that more cancellations -- including the New Jersey Devils-New York Islanders preseason contest at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Oct. 2 -- will follow as the lockout wears on, sources told ESPNNewYork.com.

    Although not surprising -- the league was expected to cancel the soon-approaching games shortly after the collective bargaining agreement expired last Saturday -- the move is a clear signal that the lack of progress in labor talks between the NHL and NHLPA is a concern.

    Apparently Ovechkin told some news outlet in Russia that he would consider staying there if salaries are slashed significantly. Kovalchuk said the same thing.

    Given his endorsements in America I don't know if he was just fucking with the Rusky reporters or he's actually that stupid.

    If the salaries drop in the NHL, he's losing a lot of money. Still more to be made here with endorsements if he gets back on track, but that's a big if.. he hasn't looked the same.

    I hope they get this stuff figured out. Someone call Mike from Breaking Bad and get him to scare Bettman. Maybe do something worse. :lol:
