NFL Rumors (Trades/Free Agents)

Broncos' Bell, Plummer for Houston's first?

The Denver Post is floating a rumor which has the Broncos sending Jake Plummer, Tatum Bell, and draft picks to the Texans in exchange for Houston's first round pick (8th overall).

This sounds like pure speculation from the writer, but we felt we'd pass it along in case it has more substance. It also suggests that Bell is on the block and Plummer has certainly played his last down as a Broncos QB.

The Broncos are rumored to want Adrian Peterson and they'll need a trade like this to have any shot at him. Although, if Peterson is available at the 8th spot, the Texans would jump at the chance to grab him, which makes this trade scenario even less likely.

Packers unlikely to trade for Moss

Despite rumors and Favre's public request, the Packers now seem unlikely to trade for Randy Moss. First, there has been almost no internal discussion of Moss by the Packers. Second the Raiders are now rumored to want a second round pick for Moss.

It seems very doubtful that Packers GM Ted Thompson, who typicaly looks to acquire draft picks and build through the draft, would be willing to let go of a second rounder for a 30 year-old receiver with a huge contract and a ton of baggage.

I'm hoping the Raiders go after Carr for a 3rd rounder.

And they're right to be asking for more than a 3rd rounder for Moss. If you expect Ted Ginn and Dwayne Jarrett to go in the first round as WRs, then you better believe Moss is more valuable than them. Baggage or not, when he wants to play he can play. Moss for a 2nd rounder is a fair trade.

with moss' salary and piss-poor attitude, he's not worth a second rounder.

I agree...

Also Carr in Chicago wold be a great deal for Chicago...

Considering Rexy only has a year left on his deal I fully expect them to just let him play it out and get someone else in there who can take over the job if/when he falters.

I didn't come up with that all by myself...I read it in ESPN The Mag while on the can this morning (makes excellent TP when you are done reading it).

Moss is worth a 1st rounder. With salary and baggage included, he's worth a 2nd.

Hit the nail on the head right there. For the right club (could accomidate his huge ego to make him "happy" again as well as his huge cap figure), that would be a steal, but no way is anyone giving up a top pick. It is a sellers market with the thin FA period so 2nd would seem right on.

As for the Broncos rumor. This seems a bit off IMHO. I could see the Texans making a play for Plumer, but Bell doesn't seem to be a fit for them. They already have a Bronco reject at RB and everyone knows Bell is a product of Shanahan's system.

Further, AP in Denver doesn't seem right either. Denver has always proved they can insert any average RB and make him great. I can't see that they would need AP. The trade of Plummer makes perfect sence. He is expendable at this point.

Yeah but Denver might be thinking "Hey if we can do this with a mediocre RB, what will happen with a possibly GREAT RB?"....

But on the whole I agree with you, that trade doesn't exactly make a lot of sense and beyond that, Houston has Domanick Davis coming back.

Plummer doesn't have that kind of value and yes Tatum like virtually all Denver RB's is a product of the system. Texans need to do some serious building on offensive line before they worry about who's playing QB.

Actually, he is now legally Domanick Williams.
