NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

I will never understand how NFL coaches, especially ones who don't call plays, can screw up clock management so badly.

You see that so often anymore, it's really an issue at both levels.

To me it's a skill like play calling. Some guys are just good at it while others are not. A head coach doesn't have to be the best clock manager to be a good HC. Delegate that shit if you bad at it. Swallow your ego or break from the normal role and help the cause man.

It speaks to someone who is detail oriented vs. someone who is more big picture focused.
Not to suggest that either one couldn't be a good head coach, but it's jarring to watch a college football game and observe a guy like Kirby Smart (or Urban Meyer) basically plant themselves next to the line judge starting at the two minute mark of each half and execute timeouts/clock management seamlessly and then watch whatever the fuck happened to the Falcons last night.
