NFL Discussion (Official Thread)

This route selection by both coaching staffs is painful to watch so far. You're getting a ton of man coverage thrown your way on 3rd down and this is the best you can dial up?

Bears dial up a man beater, Justin doesn't even take the gift of that shallow cross when seeing the DB's have cleared out. Ok, that's about enough of watching this game. It's just bad offense at this point.

Justin just looks absolutely broken as a passer and a QB in general.

His eyes are dropping to scope out the rush almost immediately after leaving his 1st read.
His Oline isn't great up the middle.
Failing to pull the trigger to receivers who have won their routes with timing and ball placement.

I'm just not sure what more you can say. I knew he'd fall in the draft, didn't mean I agreed with it. I felt and still feel like the Niners were foolish for taking Lance instead of him. But god damn, he looks literally unplayable at QB right now.
The sad thing is, there are certain franchises that are absolute destroyers of QBs...WAS, NYJ, JAX and the Bears might be the worst of them. A QB gets drafted there he has ZERO chance.

They've sent 5 QBs to the Pro Bowl in the modern era: Johnny Lujack (1950), Ed Brown (1955/56), Billy Wade (1960), Jim McMahon (1985), Mitch Trubisky (2018). That's it. That's the list. Not one of the was All-Pro, and Trubisky was a one-off good year before he reverted to dogshit. McMahon was a courtesy selection because he was good at handing the ball off to Walter Payton. Statistically, Jay Cutler is the best qb they've ever had and he was thoroughly mediocre. He did not improve one iota after going to Chicago. They've been a QB graveyard for 60 years.

With Fields, they've failed him completely. He had definite flaws in his game coming out of college, but they've done not a damn thing to help him in that regard. They've surrounded him with skill position players that have no business getting significant NFL reps. Not a single weapon. Just a total failure.

Fields was absolutely incredible at the end of this game. Completely sacrificed his body trying to will a horrible team to win. Offensive line, shit. Wide receivers, shit. Running backs looked pretty good. If the receivers stop dropping perfect passes, they score TDs on their last 2 drives and win the game (if either is converted).
