Yeah that feels like the kinda thing someone who isn't 100% an asshole does the day after sobering up and seeing the video. Doesn't make him less of a douche in the moment though. And it's possible if makes him even more of a douche if his motivations are not. I imagine this is as much about keeping him from potentially winning the next 2 SBs somewhere else while they go 4-12 with Jordan Love…strikes me as an optics move even more than a return on investment move. If they let him go then everyone else that can go will go I assume.

They either needed to jettison him or extend him. If they kept him on the original contract, his cap space was something like $46M.
