Here we go again, another introductory press conference where I’m left wondering how tf someone got hired.

I’ll try to avoid knocking public speaking aspect too much. It’s tough for most people. I totally get that. I’ve not liked doing it myself plenty of times as an introvert. And maybe it’s weird reading to a camera in Covid settings. But it’s also a skill great leaders have to some level and something you may want when you’re in charge of leading 53 men (+ staff).

From experience, I also know public speaking gets a lot easier when you’re confident in what you know and can convey it. So...what the hell is he rambling about? Just an effort to sound smart but proving yourself to be full of shit because you don’t even know what you’re saying.

Again, I don’t know how these guys pass interviews with high level execs. And what the hell is Eric Bienemy doing in these interviews to get passed over for this???

Maybe I’m being too hard on these guys. It could be first PC nerves. From reports he was a good coach here in Indy. Maybe it works out. And maybe I should continue to be thankful when I hear OSU head coaches (or even 18-22 year old players) speak so well.

Schefter has reported Stafford is being dealt to the Rams for Goff, two firsts and a 3rd.

Big trade for the Lions, gives them needed assets to rebuild. They were going nowhere even with Stafford. But they are taking a big step back at QB with this move. They were already a trash team even with good QB play, so clearly they are gonna take a few years to rebuild. The Rams obviously are in win-now mode.

I think the trade is a win for the Lions. They had too many holes to fill and the extra picks will help their chances to be a good team in the distant future. Goff isn't going to play commensurate with his salary but he can at least help the Lions avoid using a 1st on a QB right now. It is an aggressive, risky move for LA. They need to get back to the Super Bowl within the next 2-3 years to make it seem worthwhile.

McVey finally gets a QB with arm strength. There were times you could visibly see how much Goff hampered the offense and frustrated McVey on the sideline. Amazing he was able to design enough plays for the noodle arm to succeed and get to a SB.
LA is gonna have to pay the piper for giving up all those picks around the same time Stafford EDIT: leaves in FA. It looks like the LA window is two more years and then they will be rebuilding.
