I think the Graham 1st down was the right call. People forget that yellow line on the tv is not official. It’s clearly a bit ahead of where the marker actually was.
The initial instinct of the official was to give him a half-yard extra beyond what he deserved, but if all Graham had to do was get the nose of the ball to the hash mark, I think it was an alright decision to say it was a 1st down.

I don’t blame them at all. I wonder if this will change the math on rookie deals et al during the next bargaining agreement
Oh, I don’t either. Play a few years and make enough money that you or your kids don’t have to ever worry about money. Once there’s enough data to show that shorter careers are the new norm, I’d expect a move on increasing the floor on rookie deals.
