Williams wiffed because had he hit Diggs, it would have been a clear PI giving the Viking a chance for a game winning FG. That said, considering the result, he should have hit Diggs and taken the flag (There's always the chance it doesn't get called, I suppose). A 52 yard FG attempt is no gimme, and Forbath had missed from... 49?... earlier.

Or, you know, he could have been technically sound, closed the gap on diggs, broke down, and tackled him in play after the catch.

During the game, not including halftime, there were 128 commercials that lasted a combined 51 minutes.

The British Premiership, their soccer league, is the 3rd richest sports league in the world. They play 90 minute games that are over in 2 hours, including half time. There are no TV time outs during play. They wear corporate sponsors on their jerseys and sleeves, have electronic dasher boards with scrolling ads, but once the half starts in continues until it ends. Commercials run before and after games, and during halftime - that's it.

So there is no "need" for TV time outs. But Americans have become conditioned to them. I expect the NFL to add corporate logos to jerseys - they already have them on practice jerseys - but they'll still keep the stupid TV time outs. The world has changed: people are used to watching streaming services where shows run without commercials every 6 minutes. But the dinosaurs running the NFL haven't figured that out, yet. It's costing them, and will cost them more in the future.

Tomlin needs to own it for some incredibly dumb [Mark May] but I don't see any fault for Payton . That one was 100% on Marcus Williams.

Yeah, not much Payton can do about that play. But he gets a lot of credit for a guy who has had Drew Brees his entire career.

Since Jason Garrett became the coach in Dallas in 2010 his winning percentage is virtually identical to Payton, even with one season trotting out Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel, and Kellen Moore at QB. Garrett and Payton both have won two division titles and neither has reached a conference title game in that time. Garrett is a marginal coach, at best.

Payton's saving grace is one SB run in 2009, but for a guy whose had a future HOF QB for 12 years he doesn't have a ton to show for it.

Half of the NBA has sponsored jerseys now. Sponsored jerseys and sponsor logos all over the field is what's next. Trying to squeeze every dollar out before the league starts it's inevitable revenue decline. The NFL is going to like a Swedish hockey game in 15-20 years.

Jags-Vikings could end up being a terribly boring game but that's the preferred outcome here. As much as I'd like to see the Eagles get disemboweled with a billion people watching I don't think I'd bother watching more than 10 minutes of Pats-Eagles.
