Gregah Doyaahl is a one shtick troll. His deal is to slam Florida (whoever) at every opportunity and mention that he is a gator grad as a substitute for actual impartiality....his only purpose in life is to say shit to try to entice more hits on his site. Fuck him, I'm not going to give him the pleasure of a click on his site.

I didn't see this coming. You didn't see this coming. And David Pollack is going
to have to change his name (remember his Tweet from earlier in the week?).
Will Muschamp, ex-Georgia defensive standout during the Ray Goff era, has
become the new Head Coach of the Florida Gators. Our biggest rival. This is
treason, pure and simple.
Typing this is as bizarre as that unicorn I just shooed
out of my front yard.

Indeed.

Agreed.

He's a low-rent doosh.

Greg Doyel should be issues velcro shoes for this idiotic statement. I don't know how good a HC Muschamp will be, but Zook? Really???

You have to be [censored]ting us. Really? Aside from in-state talent (maybe), Texas makes more money than any school in the country (including us), their academics are top-notch, their stadium is excellent (although it doesn't have a "sinister" name like "The Swamp"), their overall facilities are world-class, and UT's total football history kills Florida's. Texas matches or stomps Florida in each category you mentioned.

Oh yeah, Austin has it all over Gainesville, too...
No, I didn't compare Florida to Texas. I compared the head coaching job at Florida to being Defensive Coordinator at Texas. Its a big step up for Muschamp. I acknowledge that he was coach in waiting but being next in line when the ship is sinking (Brown is blowing up that staff) is a lot different than being head coach somewhere else.

Just for the record, I am a firm believer that Texas is the single most desirable job for a college football coach. And yes, Austin>Gainesville. Nothing you stated I disagree with. I just think you read my post in a comparison of schools, when I intended it to be a comparison of jobs: DC at Texas to HC at Florida.

I'm really not intending to say that Texas won't be competitive as soon as next year or whatever. Its just that Muschamp has no earthly idea when or if Mack Brown will be retiring. Do you wait around sitting on the DC position with Texas at $900k for the next 5 seasons just for the chance to bump up to Head Coach... or do you take a definite position thats TANGIBLY been offered to you at what is still one of the most prestigious positions in the nation, you get a pay raise and you get a stocked roster filled with talent. The dream job was hypothetical with Texas... it just happened at Florida. Sorry, but if I'm Muschamp, I'm going to take reality in the present than a hypothetical in the future.

At Texas, Muschamp could have waited three -- five? 10? -- more years and succeeded Brown. He would have inherited a wealthy program with great facilities and excellent fan and administrative support that sits smack in the middle of a recruiting hotbed. Instead, Muschamp will immediately take over a wealthy program with great facilities and excellent fan and administrative support that sits smack in the middle of a recruiting hotbed.

Pretty much where I sit on the issue.

I'm a bit suprised that UF went with someone with no head coaching experience. Muschamp has the makings of a great coach, but not all great Coordinators can make the transition to HC. Obviously rr, Cholly, and Shannon come to mind, time will tell on this one.
