Yanks fan charged with murder in Sox fan death

NASHUA, N.H. - A woman accused of running down a man in her car after a Red Sox-Yankees argument in a bar never hit her brakes as she accelerated toward the small group he was in, a prosecutor said Monday.

"She never braked, and she accelerated at a high speed for about 200 feet. She went directly at this group of people," prosecutor Susan Morrell said of Ivonne Hernandez, who is charged with reckless second-degree murder in the death early Friday of Matthew Beaudoin, 29.
Authorities won't describe the argument beforehand in Slade's Food & Spirits, but witnesses said it heated up when Hernandez identified herself as a New York Yankees fan. Like the rest of New Hampshire, Nashua, 45 miles northwest of Boston, is Red Sox country. Bartender Tanya Moran said the argument spilled outside, and at least one person in a group that included Beaudoin began chanting ``Yankees suck!'' when they saw a Yankees sticker on Hernandez's car.

A-Rod, Hughes, Posada all headed to Tampa to rehab injuries

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada and Phil Hughes are expected to travel to the New York Yankees' spring-training facility in Florida on Thursday to continue rehabbing their injuries.

Rodriguez (strained right quadriceps) ran in the outfield before New York's game against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday night. The third baseman also played catch, fielded grounders and took batting practice.

Rodriguez, a three-time AL MVP, is expected to continue with a similar routine over the next few days before possibly playing in extended spring games Monday and Tuesday in Tampa.

Funny lines from that link about the putz in the stands:

Beer - $5
Madonna Pictures - $10
Look on your face when A-Rod sees you making fun of him - Priceless
...
Looks like the guys in the crowd were having fun teasing Alex Rodriguez on all the Madonna drama that?s been going on lately, that is until he actually turned around and looked them in the eye!

 :so:

ESPN - Yankees have tentative deal with first baseman Sexson - MLB

Yankees have tentative deal with first baseman Sexson

The New York Yankees have reached a tentative agreement with Richie Sexson, who was released by the Seattle Mariners a week ago.

Sexson fits in New York because the Yankees needed a right-handed slugger to match up against left-handed pitching -- and Sexson had a .344 average against lefties this year.

Assuming the deal is completed, he'll be in the lineup Saturday against Oakland.

ESPN - Yankees add Nady, Marte in trade with Pirates - MLB
The Yankees agreed Friday evening to a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates that would give New York left-handed pitcher Damaso Marte and right fielder Xavier Nady.

The Pirates will receive four minor leaguers including right-handed pitcher Ross Ohlendorf, right-handed pitcher George Kontos, left-handed pitcher Phil Coke and right fielder Jose Tabata in return. The trade is tentative pending physicals.
Kind of surprised to see them give up on Tabata so early.

I don't know any of those minor leaguers names.....is this the typical give the yankees what they want in return for absolutely nothing?

Ohlendorf has had several ML appearances, beginning last year. He was solid last year, struggled this year. I think he could be pretty good for the pirates - or maybe anywhere that is not the Bronx... (he's also another Princeton kid and was a helluva intramural basketball player )
