New to the Board...

hello everyone,

My names michael, and im a big ohio state, and cincinnati bengals fan. i just wanted to get acquainted with everyone on the board, i just signed up tonight, and it looks like a great board, i look forward to alot of discussion on here! i also was wondering what everyone thinks about the troy smith/ justin zwick thing at quarterback? i prefer troy smith, i just hope he's nto rusty when he comes back because he'll be tested right away with texas if he is. I personally can't wait to see a full season of the more spread offense with holmes, and ginn, it should be a fun year, and i look to see them playing usc in the national championship!

how's it going. i'm new myself and apparently the qb situation is the first thing us newbies ask. (i asked the same thing as soon as i signed up) if you look on the menu bar you can search for posts and you'll be sure to find lots of good stuff on that topic and many more.

Welcome to the board and all, but where have you gotten your scoop about there being a more spread offense this year with Holmes and Ginn? Having "Guns" doesn't always mean you're gonna "shoot." Coach Tressel is still in charge here, and every attempt in the world will be made to make this a running team. And I, for one, can certainly live with that.

I'm pretty sure he got the scoop from just about every preseason magazine, every discussion thread, and just about any other Ohio State discussion/article/whatever.

gotta go with SmoothOlaf on this one, Dubs... FWIW, Tressel ran more plays from the Shotgun 3-Wide last year than any other formation... while i don't think we will see a 'true' 5-wide Texas Tech Spread, Tressel will definitely run a LOT of plays from spread formations... it just suits the talent better... that being said, i agree that Tressel will ALWAYS attempt to run the ball... you just can't win without a running game...

there was an article in the Dispatch last week that was a good example of Tressel's willingness to shift the Offense to suit his talents... the article detailed the first day of Spring camp one season at Youngstown State (can't remember which one)... that day, Tressel walked into the room, and began showing the team videos of the Buffalo Bills Air Assault Offense... Tressel then handed them the playbook and said to get studying, because that was the O the Penguins were going to run that year... it goes without saying that Tressel won a NC that year with the Bills' Spread...
