Greetings, Buckeye fans. I decided with Nebraska's upcoming move into the Big 10 this season, to find a Big 10 team forum to join. Mostly I wanted to do it because I'm eager to learn of the traditions and rivalries and culture that make up Big 10 football. I think I can speak for all (or at least most) Nebraskans when I say how excited we are to be a part of this great conference and the many great traditions Big 10 football has to offer. I can only hope Nebraska will bring as much to the conference as the Big 10 will bring to us. I think we will.

So, finding a forum? Step one, pick a team. Wanting to find a team best aligned with Nebraska, with some quick research, I quickly came to the conclusion that the Ohio State Buckeyes are the team for me. I've been to Columbus on game day and the place was amazing. Reminded me a lot of Nebraska. I also found the fans in and around Columbus to be very hospitable (of course, I was sporting my Nebraska gear the whole time) and extremely knowledgeable. I had several people from convenience stores to the airport to the hotel to Starbucks welcome me to the Big Ten and express how excited they were to have Nebraska a part of the conference. Again, reminded me a lot of the way I hope our fans will treat you. So, Ohio State it is.

Step two, pick a forum. Again, didn't take me long to come to the conclusion that Buckeye Planet was at the top of the game. I think I lurked around them all pretty thoroughly and this place was clearly what I'm looking for. The only thing I'm still struggling with is that BP stands for Bo Pelini where I come from! :)

Anyway, I'm here and I'm looking forward to learning more and fully integrating myself with Ohio State and Big 10 football through some insightful discussions, playful banter and maybe even some good old fashion sports arguments from time-to-time. Looking forward to October 8 and hoping Nebraska will serve as a great host for your first taste of your new conference mate.

Go Big Red!

I'm guessing there will be plenty of time for that come October.

You misunderstand. The lack of smack talk is a plus.

It was actually a compliment. Your post was so well put together that I couldn't think of anything stupid, random, or smartassed to say in response... very impressive.

No...I understood. My point was that I'm sure there will be plenty of time for me to say something that deserves a stupid, random or smartassed response. Especially the closer we get to October 8th. But thanks for the warm welcome anyway!!

Welcome, Landomatic.

Living in Dallas, you must be glad to see the Huskers get away from the influence of all things Texas in the Big Twelve.

We've have some good Longhorn fans on BP, so I'm not talking about their fanbase, just the way the University and the AD like to throw their weight around.

Yeah...I got a little tired of the Big 12 constantly bowing down to Texas. But, I would have felt that way no matter where I live. From everything I could tell, it was becoming more and more obvious that Texas has the commissioner in their pocket and totally runs the conference. Oh well...I think it will also be what is ultimately their undoing. Good riddance...glad to be part of the B10 now!!!
