New Infraction added: Ban Whining

Deety

Head Coach
Here's one for the :smash: files as it shouldn't be necessary at all. Due to some abuse heaped on some of BP's volunteer mods, there is now an infraction in the system for Ban Whining.

When returning from bans, or via email during a ban, some members argue about whether the ban was deserved, sometimes quite persistently. While all bans are subjective to a degree, all infractions, especially those resulting in bans, are reviewed by the mods at large, and sometimes changed or reversed after discussion. If there is something we clearly missed ("I was referencing this horrible post to make fun of it"), let us know. (Please don't email Clarity for this; if you can't PM, mods can be emailed from their profiles.) Otherwise, assume the staff has already discussed whether the infraction should stand, and that further debate will result in an extended vacation.

The Ban Whining infraction adds 25 points (resulting in an extended vacation), and unlike most infractions, points expire in 7 days.

A list of infractions is here.

Question: I lost it for a minute during a game and was banned. I'm embarrassed. Am I really welcome back as though nothing happened?

Yes.

What's the difference between "Insulting Other Members" and "Personal Attack"?

If you are so fucking dumb that you can't understand the difference between an insult and a personal attack, then it is a personal attack.

If you are so fucking dumb that you can't understand the difference between a personal attack and an insult, then it is an insult.

Isn't it obvious?

Everything is so much more clear now. Thanks HineyBuck!

The points are different. Depending on what's in the system, "Insult" won't usually trigger a ban, but "Attack" will. There haven't been many of either, but every now and then someone tries to arrange an offline fight or something.

What if you whine about getting a ban-whine infraction?
Posters who can't be rehabilitated must carry the traditional mark of the pancake hat as a warning to others.

25 point Infractions (points never expire):

Buckeye Bashing
Personal Attack

25 point Infractions (points expire in 7 days):

Ban whining

The points system can be revised on rare occasions; but here is how the infractions and their associated points will currently trigger bans:

20 total accumulated points: two-week ban
So.....if you get 25 points that never expire for a personal attack or buckeye bashing - and 20 total accumulated points gets you a two week ban - does that mean you get banned every two weeks into perpetuity?
