YSU gave up 35+ points four times in 2003 (54, 35, 47, 37) and 30+ points four times in 2004 (44, 37, 30, 34). I hope that was due to a lack of talent rather than defensive scheme.

If OSU didn't hire Heacock when Tucker left and a defensive assistant coaching spot was open why would they hire him for an even more important position? I would be dissapointed if Heacock would be the choice.

I can't believe Tucker would come back. Job hopping wouldn't look very good on his resume. That being said... I hope he does.

Spielman said today he would not be interested in any position with OSU because it would take too much time away from his number one priority... his wife and kids.

edit: since I posted I can't believe Tucker would come back, and now the decision is made... undoubtably it will be Tucker to prove me wrong.:(

If it is Blackney (don't know about BuckShots prediction of Heacock)...does anyone know what kind of defensive scheming he is best known for? As in...does he blitz a lot? Does he play a lot of man? Zone? Anyone here even get to watch any Maryland football?

My #1 choice and makes more sense than Tucker (who has just left the team) or Heacock (who could of made the move last year if he was under consideration.)

Well Only problem with having Tucker come back is that what happens if the defensive backs don't listen to our new coach and think that Tucker is the one who should be teaching them? could have ourselves alittle bit of mix up. Not saying the kids would do it intentially but would do it because they've never had a defensive back besides Mel..... So I hope Mel would come back, but I hope the kids realize they have a new defensive back coach.

I don't like the sound of Alan's comments. It almost sounds like he is disappointed. That makes me think Heacock is leaving YSU to come to OSU to work for his brother.


If that is the case, I can live with Jim Heacock as the DC. He has been around for a while and I think the kids like him.

My top two are Tucker then Pugac with Jim Heacock a close 3rd.
