And the new DC is....

Mark May.

Sorry. Bad source. Just look at the debt we have to pay off. It's not a problem now, but the May Queen will ask for expensive facials that will knock the repayment plan for a loop. Nope. Not gonna happen

I don't know how this Tucker thing got started, but it's not going to happen.I have complete confidence in Coach T to bring in the right man or promote from within.I'd love to see them move everbody up and bring in a guy like Steve Tovar to be the lb coach. He's worked with OSU in a non-coaching capacity and certainly knows the lb position.I hate to see Snyder go and wish him luck, but if he had to go,having a veteran defense with leadership from the stellar and senior dominated lb corps shouldn't affect OSU.If it had been a young defense with no real leaders,it could be a problem. With the leadership from Hawk,Carpenter and company, the defense will be in great shape.Go Bucks

I think BP is amazing. I am constantly and pleasantly surprised about the lengths people go to just so we can all share this Buckeye place and support our teams. Thanks to these guys, but also thanks to everyone who makes this such a great place :oh:  :io:

Gentleman, I merged all threads concerning the new DC...

Some of you will appreciate that, some of you will not. However, we have always kept single threads...even a huge decision in the slow off-season needs to follow the precedent. Thanks for understanding this merge and those to come...

in defense of ysu's defense from this past year, they played 4 top 10 teams in the final 6 games, and something around 6 top ten teams over the entire season.

they also had something around 4-5 defensive starters injured for most of the year.

i would also like to point out that YSU got a lot of overlooked kids from NE Ohio, especially from smaller schools. that well has dried up. it started at the end of JT's tenure.

heacock was also DC for a spell in the 90's when ysu was quite dominant defensively.

Since when does wstripes know much about tOSu football? He appears to be connected to the USC staff and gains insights to recruits whom tOSU may be looking at; but I do not recall him having any info about the OSU program in general.

I don't know who the new DC is going to be, and I really don't care as I'm sure whomever it is will be good, but the one thing I like about both Heacock's is that I believe both of them have head coaching experience. I always think it's impressive when a staff has a number of former head coaches. Those guys are usually very organized and good practice coaches.

Go Bucks!!! In Tress We Trust.

I would really like to get more input on the BuckStops "insight" that the players don't like Tucker. Helpinghand was surprised by that as was another guy who had watched practices in the past. Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this subject?

Also, what was tucker's ultimate goal, NFL head coach or college head coach?

Everything I have ever read or heard, the players loved Tucker and he was a strong recruiter because he was able to connect with the kids on various levels beyond football. The only significant player I have ever heard disliking Tucker was EJ...but that is an obvious situation as MT took the "tough love" approach.

As for goals, there are conflicting reports...some say the Browns are his dream job and others say he wants to be a college HC.

Tucker definitely aspires to be a college head coach some day. No question about it. The Browns job was a chance to be with his home-town team and he jumped at it.

As for the players not liking Tucker, the only one that I've heard with a real dislike for him is EJ Underwood(who is very vocal about it)---and frankly EJ has been a bit of a disappointment all the way around, wouldn't you agree??

I know that Nate Salley would walk over hot coals for the man.

Thanks for your input. I had a feeling it was probably more of an isolated case from the rumblings I had heard in the past, but I wanted to clarify that answer.

Eager to see what JT and the staff decides.

EJ Underwood is hardly a reputable source for gauging players feelings about a coach. As far as what the former player said (can't remember his name), but if that's true, then that might be a cause for concern.

That said, I'm hoping for Coach Tucker.

He knows the players and he knows the system.
