Need THE GAME Hotel Help

suza271

Senior
Hi there,

I have tickets to the big game this year and my boyfriend is coming into town to experience it. Instead of having my parents (who are the ones we would be staying with otherwise) pick us up and drop us off from Westerville, or God forbid fight the traffic, I was thinking of getting a hotel for 11/22 or both 11/21 and 11/22. I was doing a little research, but only came up with a couple options and was hoping someone could give me some tips on what hotels are close and not s--t holes. We aren't looking for the Ritz, but I don't want to stay in a shady motel. Also, would it be worthwhile to stay on Friday night too? Will there be lots going on that night as well?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but the main thing is, I HAVE a place to stay in Westerville, I just don't want to drive. If I'm going to the game, I just want to stumble into my hotel room. Or, stay in the room on Friday so I can get up and just BE there on Saturday. I'm open to a hotel that has a shuttle to the stadium, or even a taxi that would be quick. But, if I'm going to stay in Dublin or Worthington, I might as well just go to my parents house in Westerville, ya know? Thanks tho.

There is lots of partying going on fri and sat night , weiner roasts too if you don't mind the smell of burning upholstery and wadding.
To find the parties walk into the wind and it's easy to find them what with the smoke in the air and the sounds of sirens to guide you. .

It's going to be very very hard to find something now. Most hotels are booked many months in advance. But if you do happen to find something available, try and get it FRI/SAT. It will be worth it for sure. With parties everywhere and bars up and down High St. you're bound to find something good

So as much as I appreciate the offer :), anybody got any real advice on accomodations? It seems the Blackwell is booked, which is where I think would be the best, but I'm willing to do anything within walking distance or short cab ride. Or, I have even heard about some places with a shuttle.

Is it possible all these hotels are really booked this early? Or, are they just holding them for something else? Should I call? Anyone had any luck with this?

It's worth making some calls, but it's very possible they're all booked. I made a reservation last fall - the hotels within walking distance get booked very quickly - many of them allow reservations to be made 12 months in advance.

OK,

Whoever has a hotel or has hotel advice, gimme some names, even if they are dream names. Like..Holiday Inn on Lane, Blackwell, etc. So I can start calling. Just gimme a list so I can start bribing people at the hotels. I'm not staying at some shithole on the fairgrounds. I heard the Hyatt on Capitol does a shuttle, is that true? I wanna show my boyfriend a good time and I don't want to stay with my parents. We've done that enough. I would even be willing to trade my Purdue tickets for a good reservation somewhere.

I was thinking last resort would be Arena District hotel and taxi back and forth. Would that be expensive? Is there another good hotel/area if it all falls through? HELP!!!

Thanks guys. If someone gets me a reservation, I would be indebted to you...

I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Lane last year for a seminar (it was in the summer and the students were gone) and it was fine, nothing wrong with it and you can't beat the location.

I think you should get on a waiting list there because people book it far in advance and then cancel a couple days before.

Having said that, as a parent of three kids in their twenties.... if your folks offer to pick you both up after the game and to shuttle you around to be safe, take advantage of it. If your parents are like me, there's nothin' you and your boyfriend are going to do that they haven't done.

I appreciate the fact that my kids are not too embarassed to call me when they are hammered and need a ride.

Enjoy!

All I'm sayin is this... cardboard box and a fire barrell under the lane avenue bridge. As a bonus if you fall in the Ole' an' tangy the pollution could give you superpowers, to combat Wolverine evil everywhere.

ScriptOhio two posts above gave you some pretty good links. You might also think about calling the Columbus Convention Bureau and asking them but I think the people on this board probably know more than them especially when it comes to that game. As a previous poster said, many hotels are booked way in advance so you might have to stay downtown at the Hyatt if they still have rooms. Friday and Saturday night is a definite thing to do.
