Number one concern right now is the run game. Not sure if I should be that concerned though because the run game looked less than stellar the first game last year too.

All that being said, really good first game. Actually expected to look a bit sloppier. Thought we’d win something like 45-24 or 45-31 just because of inexperience on defense. I keep forgetting this is the first game of the season with a lot less practice time than we usually get.

Agree. Nebraska isn't a world-beater, but they're much better than most opening games. And that's a challenge. There are plenty of things to work on, but Fields was fantastic and the defense was able to settle in later at least.

I also think you'd have seen a very different Neb game last year if it was the first game of the season. FAU was very bumpy after 28-0.

Just looked up the FAU game last year and we had 48 rushes for 237 yards good for 4.8 yards a rush. Today was 48 rushes for 215 good for 4.5. Not super concerned about the run game yet.

Well first reaction...

1. Damn it's good to watch football again!!
2. Williamson was abused on defense. I'm sorry but he is not the answer and I'm afraid it'll mean a lot of points until we address that.
3. The DL really needs to step up outside of Garrett
4. JF still holds onto the ball way way way too long
5. Let's see more of Chambers because the two RBs really struggled. They need to pick their legs up and I'm afraid that the loss of JK is going to be very apparent.
6. Someone other than #2 or #5 need to step up at WR to take pressure off.

Regardless of that extremely critical take we still won 52-17 which really is a good score considering how much success they had. I think our first down defense and offense really struggled today. Nebraska had WAY too many 2nd and 2 situations and we had way too many 2nd and 8 situations.

This was a good test and I think with Clemson struggling against Syracuse today and Alabama struggling with Ole Miss that this maybe shouldnt have been a surprise.

I like this Nebraska team though. I thought they were much much better up front this time. That said we better get better along the LOS if anything or next week will be much tighter than we want.

Glad to see the bucks today though!
