Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

Ohio State still has Oregon tickets for sale

I seriously doubt that Covid is a big part of this, to be honest. When I look at the traffic here in South Florida; we're the COVID hotspot of planet earth right now and people are just full on back-to-normal here.

IMHO this has as much to do with modern tv as anything. Why pay $100+ for a ticket, to say nothing of the travel and the inconvenience, when I literally have a better seat at home than any seat in the stadium. Saw my first game in 4k on Saturday, will see my first Ohio State game in 4k two days hence. What I cannot see is any reason at all to ever go to a game again.

I realize that there are a lot of people who love to go and be a part of the crowd. For me, not being part of the crowd is the biggest reason to stay home.

The world is changing. Ticket prices are going to have to change with it.

It also has an impact on crowd noise and atmosphere. The people who can still pay for tickets regularly aren’t very likely to be the kind of fans who contribute to a home field advantage.

Also. let's not forget that the younger generations aren't as interested in actually paying attention to the game if not for a social media picture. My daughter's friends who go to UC(Cincinnati) barely stay past halftime, same goes for my buddy's who have kids at Miami(OH), OSU, IU and Tennessee. That's a small sample size, but I'm sure that can go for most teams nationally.

In the same year that Fordham last threw a touchdown pass against a Power Conference school, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon and The Beatles made their last public appearance as a band.

So, when Rams quarterback Tim DeMorat tossed a 31-yard score in the second quarter of Fordham’s game at Nebraska on Saturday, he accomplished something that hadn’t been done since 1969.

A truly classic football game on BTN at 9 ET tonight.

1971, Nebraska at Oklahoma, a legitimate ‘Game of the Century’ billing. It’s been 50 years, and I can remember key plays in that game. I can’t remember where I left my keys, however.
That Johnny Rodgers could play a little. And Greg Pruitt wasn’t too bad either.
