Nebraska to stream simulated spring game featuring Husker legends

In the spirit of the spring football season, Nebraska is moving forward with a backup plan for its spring game this weekend. Rather than a traditional spring football game in Memorial Stadium, Nebraska will load up some customized rosters in an old copy of NCAA Football (RIP, NCAA Football video games) and stream a simulated spring game featuring some familiar Nebraska players.

90 minutes ago tOSU's Joe Burrow announced he was leaving as a grad transfer. I would suppose Nebraska is an option but as Scott Frost told me last month, "You think he's better than what we got?"

Just sayin': Yeah, I think so. Which might help to explain why Frost has gone 4-8 and 5-7 in his 2 years a had coach at Corn, i.e. his astute ability to evaluate football talent......

Hey it's only 2 actions; but Corn is losing ground in the B1G West here:

1. Iowa's getting some of Nebraska's top recruits and there can't be too many in the state of Nebraska.

IOWA NABS TOP NEBRASKA PROSPECT
Last week, Iowa landed a total of three commitments, including its top-ranked player in David Davidkov and jumped up to the sixth-ranked class in the country.

The Hawkeyes kept rolling this week by landing three-star athlete Keegan Johnson from Bellevue West (Neb.) High School. Johnson is a Nebraska legacy and held an offer from the Cornhuskers. Instead, he decided to take his talents east and play his college ball for Kirk Ferentz in Iowa City.

2. Minnie's getting some very good recruits to keep their "boat a rowing".

GOPHERS GRAB TOP-20 RB
Minnesota landed a commitment on Saturday from four-star running back Mar'Keise Irving, the No. 18-ranked running back in the country in 2021 out of Illinois.

Looking at he 2021 recruiting class in the B1G West, so for Rivals has it as:

7. Goldie

9. Herkie

17. Bucky

28. Corn

29. Nerds

48. Boiler Pete

83. Lovie's team

Kind of seems like Fleck is what these guys thought Frost would be.

Don’t know about that. I think that Minny expected Fleck to come in and work his ass off to change culture and build. I think that Corn expected that the mere presence of Frost was enough to show up in Indy the first Saturday in December each year.

There’s a big part of me that thinks that Frost thought as much as well.

As a redshirt freshman at LSU in 2017, his kickoff hangtime was 3.95 seconds. Nebraska’s best kicker in 2019 averaged 3.65 seconds, which was 12th out of 14 in the conference. The worst Big Ten hangtime average was 3.62 seconds and the top mark was 4.20 seconds by Wisconsin’s Zach Hintze according to PFF. Culp’s freshman mark would’ve put him in the top third of the Big Ten in that category, as a .3 second improvement makes a big difference in helping your coverage team get down the field.

Just sayin': The importance of hang time on kickoffs has been greatly reduced by the fair catch rule and the rule to kick off from the 35 in lieu of the 30 (some coaches' strategy now is to just kick it out of the end zone)........

According to KOLN in Lincoln, 21-year-old Corbin Ruth and 19-year-old Riley Moses were cited Saturday for maintaining a disorderly house. Lincoln Police Department officers were called to a residence following a report of a loud party in progress. This was the second time this month that officers have been dispatched to the same off-campus residence for the same complaint. The first did not result in a citation being issued. Both Ruth and Moses are Nebraska football players.

This (i.e. drinking party) probably has happened at more schools than just Corn. It's no surprise here that college kids (even 19 year olds) like to drink and party. However, after the 1st warning you would think they would be a little more discrete about it.
