Nebraska Cornhuskers (corn)

Sounds to me like the standard routine of a guy talking shit he doesn't really believe, because that's his job. Same thing as the UCF "National Champions." I don't know that Moos is a dimwit, but being a blowhard for Nebraska's programs, especially football, is part of his job description.

Eh, there's pandering to the boosters, which, as you say, is part of the job description...and then there's pandering in such a ridiculous way that you sound like a complete fool. Moos was pretty squarely in the latter category.

I have no idea what is going on around these parts, but let me say this. Many folks around here did NOT want coach Frost here.
In fact, I personally know an alum who played there in the 80s that is still very tied to the program, and he didn't have many good things to say about Frost coming here.

That being said, his argument stops every time I tell him that I'd rather go down swinging in a fight...

Eight players have now left Nebraska since Scott Frost was hired

Personnel attrition is pretty much standard operating procedure whenever a new head coach takes over a football program, and Nebraska is no different.

On his personal Twitter account late Tuesday night, Willie Hampton announced that, “[a]fter prayer, talking with my mom and a good conversation with [first-year head coach Scott] Frost,” he has decided to transfer from the Cornhuskers. The linebacker has already been granted a release from his NU scholarship, although it’s unclear what if any restrictions were placed on the release.
.
.
.
Including Hampton, a total of eight Cornhuskers players have left the program since Frost was hired in December. The other seven are offensive lineman Bryan Brokop, wide receiver Zack Darlington, offensive lineman Michael Decker, fullback Ben Miles, quarterback Patrick O’Brien, inside linebacker Andrew Ward, and wide receiver Keyan Williams. Six of those eight transferred, while one of the remaining two, Decker, retired from football and the other, Darlington, joined the Army.

According to the Lincoln Journal Star, all of the moves mentioned above leave Nebraska with 83 players on scholarship, two below the NCAA’s 85-man limit.

Is Frost is just "cleaning the house" here?

So, the breakdown here:

Willie Hampton - never played a regular season snap
Ben Miles -never played a regular season snap
Andrew Ward - never played a regular season snap
Bryan Brokop - never played a regular season snap
Keyan Williams - caught a total of one pass, 19 yards in his four years here.Zack Darlington - Never started a game, joining the military (Army Special Forces)
Patrick O'Brien - Never started a game, still has PTSD from going 4-9-46 with a pick against you guys

Michael Decker - started 5 games at center, suffered a career ending knee injury, retired.

Not exactly thinning the herd here...

Here's an interesting piece coming out of Florida:

https://www.bradenton.com/sports/article213095534.html

Instead of Dan Mullen, the University of Florida offered the head coaching position to former UCF coach Scott Frost, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

Frost, who is Nebraska's head coach, turned down the Gators when he couldn't bring his entire staff, Nebraska tight ends coach Sean Beckton told the Omaha World-Herald.

Frost was considered a leading candidate to take over in Gainesville after guiding UCF to an undefeated regular season along with former Oregon and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.

Seriously? The guy goes undefeated....wins his conference....beats an SEC opponent with a short QB and a linebacker with one hand....and they wouldn't let him bring his own staff?!?

And then, they get a guy who is 7-34 against ranked opponents all time???

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/...look-at-dan-mullens-track-record-in-key-games

Mullen and Mississippi State went 7-34 against ranked opponents. No matter how you shake it, that’s a rough number. However, there are a few caveats to point out with this one:

  • Nine of those losses were to Alabama.
  • Eight of those losses came during his first two seasons while Mullen was still rebuilding the program.
  • Ten of those losses were decided by eight points or fewer.
  • Mississippi State was the lower-ranked team in all but five of those 41 matchups.

I love the whole, "Oh, he lost nine times to Alabama, and eight losses were in his first two seasons. And, and, 10 losses were by eight or less points, and MSU was lower ranked in all but 5 of those 41 matchups!"

Know who else has a winning record against Nick Satan?

Gus Malzahn,
Dabo Swinney,
Kyle Whittingham,

The ones who beat him more than once?
Hugh Freeze
The 'Ol Ball Coach
Gene Chizik (thanks to sCam)
Lesticles
Big Game Bob
And....some guy named Urban Frank Meyer III....

Well...at least they can pick Mullen's staff for him...SMDH

#1 - All memorabilia has been found, except for:
  • Photos
  • Football Helmets
  • Five pairs of Oregon Themed Jordans
#2 - A number of Bucky fans were seen leaving the scene of the crime. Reported that they stole the rings because they, "Wanted to know what a national championship ring felt like."

#3 - I await my G.P.A.

#4 - Coach thought this was Wood River, not Lincoln. He left his garage door open like a doofus...

They hadn’t even moved in yet. Not sure but maybe it was those renovating the home that left it unlocked. Either way, with the items inside, not very smart.

Barry took what he knew from Lincoln (was a linebacker here, coached here as a high school coach), applied it to Madison, and boom. That's why Frosty says, "Shit works, man."

No idea what Calla-bo-riley was thinking.

EDIT: If you want to know why Richt lost to Bucky....look at where he's from

(quoted from Miami thread)

I guess what I'm really asking... is there any realization in Lincoln, from coaching staff and/or fans - but especially coaching staff, that Wisconsin has been destroying you since joining the conference? Wisconsin seems to approach those games with a different level of intensity than Nebraska? I mean Abdullah vs. Gordon was supposed to be a great game and Gordon just went beast mode and set records...

That's not a "our gameplan could be better" thing. That's a John Cooper "we're not up for this game like they are" thing.
I know OU is your traditional rival... but right now, somebody has to start looking at Wisconsin as a rival. Minnesota and Iowa haven't consistently challenged them ... I guess they saw a new big-name program come on and decided to set the tone and bully you guys... and they're doing it. With ease.
