I also don't really have a problem with using it against 1 dimensional offenses.....unless it really is a huge advantage for the D. I'm pretty sure our D was keying on the run against Navy on almost every play.....and I'm pretty sure Texas' D keyed on the pass against Texas Tech.

like cheesing is enforced now?I agree with that part. It would have to be a black and white rule. Doing it sometimes would leave too much of a gray area.
Then the other part is what to do with people that break that rule? Basically consider it cheesing? ie you can call out the guy that does it during the game. (hit start and PM him) If he is abusing it even after being told it would be subject to being kicked out? Or at least results being kicked out and then putting the offending party on autopilot?
I don't think this should be a majority rule vote, it would have to be almost unanimous vote (like 9 or 10 out of 12)

I guess that begs the question. If you didn't know that a pass key was used on you, did it really cause an unfair advantage, or did it do what it was meant to do, without going all TECMO Bowl on the offense?Piney;1560002; said:I thought I have seen that message when other people are successful. That's what I was going to suggest, and that's probably what I'll implement in the Super Conference too.Piney;1560079; said:IF we vote to ban defensive keys, a punishment for someone who abuses the keys AFTER we ban them could be putting the offending party on autopilot. I would then throw out the game results and let the other party replay the game. But I am just throwing it out there as a possible punishment.
I read that, and I agree, but I guess my question was whether pass keys would be banned too. I use them alot in long yardage situations, and like Olaf said, it basically just makes the 'D' not bite on a play action fake. If they're banned too, then I'm just happy to get rid of the run keys, and will adjust to not having pass keys. I don't think that pass keys should be banned though, because like many of us have already said, they're not over the top, and would also be very difficult to prove that they were used.Piney;1560079; said:Like I said earlier... run keys are like Tecmo Bowl, but the pass keys seem less severe and doesn't really make it impossible to complete a pass. Really it seems pass keys tend to help pass rush a little and I see more DBs breaking up passes. But it isn't like WRs are blanketed and INTs happening left and right by using the pass key. At least in my humble opinion.
Here is my one concern. Option offenses (which many of you use). If you can not key on the run, then these are nearly impossible to stop. Especially with a 90+ speed QB. If we ban keys, then I say we ban option offenses.
