Sometimes there are duds. You should try looking at the recruits actual attribute ratings as opposed to their star ratings; sometimes you can snatch up a guy with great ratings as a 3 star who no one else is going after. Then they come in on par with 4 star recruits. Doesn't happen all the time, but its fun when it does.
It happened all the time in last year's game too. It was one of the things that I loved about recruiting last year. I always scan through a recruits attributes. The 40 time, and bench press always give you a known SPD and STR number. I have no idea what the Squat number translates to, but I always open up the guy's "more info" page to see what kind of player he'll be. I've got a lot of players that had different star ratings, but have similar talent levels, because I compared attributes rather than just looking at recruit ranking.

That's kind of what I'm saying. I've always looked at attributes rather than star ratings as the deciding factor of where I put the recruit. In last years game they were accurate, in this year they are not. I can recruit a 5 * WR with B+ speed and he turns out to only be a 80 speed when he shows up on the roster. That was my point.

My best player ever in these games (Casey Jordan) was a 3 start

I haven't noticed that. Probably because I've just looked at the 40 time for speed, and I don't usually remember what other attributes I liked about the guy, by the time I got him in and could look at his actual ratings.

That was because his SPD rating was so high. In '09 I abused the freshman with SPD regardless of OVR, where this year I can't. I have a BYU WR (Tereshinski) with 97 SPD and he was a non factor, because he was a bad route runner and was never open. In '09 I would have had an unstoppable offense with two 97 SPD receivers and a 96 SPD tailback.

Having said that, I am happy the way it has evened out. In the championship game with IBI, he had better talent and executed much better than I did. There aren't as many/easy exploits this year. Save Tecmo Bowl line jumps.

yea, regardless of overall rating in 09, if they player had 95+ speed you were in good shape

I had a couple of 3* WRs with Wisconsin in the Big 10/Pac 10 dynasty that were only in the 70s overall but had 97/98 speed and were pretty much unstoppable, while WRs I had who were in the high 80s were useless because they only had around 88-90 speed

and power HBs were worthless in 09 as well, if you didnt have a HB with at least like 92 speed you were pretty much screwed running the ball

thats absurd

maybe the higher rated players improve more when training comes around?

or maybe ea is just [censored]ing up

What's more absurd is that all the stats along the board, save fore a couple, are higher for the lower-rated guy. But when I was recruiting them, the higher rated guy had the higher letter grades, run times, and bench numbers.

What's absurd is an 87 OVR freshman tackle, when the #1 overall recruit is an 83 OVR tackle. :wink2:

As you can tell by BN's post... We are now in Week 1.

First off I forgot to switch quarters from 6 minutes to 7, that will happen for Week 2.

Second, schedules will be updated next week, including this seasons schedule in the first few posts. Real busy at work so hard to sit down and do what I need to do.

Normally we are on a Sunday/Thursday advancement schedule. We will try to stick with that, but I understand with the first few weeks with human games that may be delayed. But as long as the human v human games are done, we will advance per the Sunday/Thursday schedule.

Iron, looks like me and you are playing week 1

I can play tonight if you can
Hopefully that will work. I'm going to try to be home by 10:15 EST, but there's consrtuction that kills any projection for arrival.

I just signed the #2 OT. So that doesn't stink. Got to him before Basebuck could even recruit him. :banger:

Damn. I noticed we are going head to head for a number of guys this year. I signed the #2 OLB out of the gate. I'm altering my recruiting strategy to take into consideration the progression. I'm looking more for a balanced class this year

I really hope that's not the OLB that I just offered...55 minutes down the drain.
