NCAA2010 PS3 BP Online Dynasty

I get up at 2am in the morning. I work until about 12pm. I then go to the gym. I am home usually around 130pm. As I have stated I can play at any time from 130pm-530pm CT. The latest I can start a game is 530 because the fiance gets home between 6pm-645pm. I get to see her a total of 45-60 minutes a day. I dont think it would be right to spend that time playing a video game. I then get to bed around 730pm-8pm. It gets me about 6 hours of sleep. During the weekends we are very social. We go out to dinner almost every Friday and Saturday night. If we are not at dinner we are out with friends. In the afternoon we could be doing lunch, running errands, shopping or simply out. I spend very little time at home on the weekends, except for the mornings. Which I always have made available to play in these leagues.

I cannot mess with my sleep. I cannot be falling asleep while I am at work. I am tired everyday as it is, let alone if I had to stay up late and play a video game.

I dont mean to go off on a rant, but I dont think you guys understand how hard it is for me to play outside of those times. I am sorry I cannot play at 9pm like most of you. I wish I did not get up at 2am to go into work, but I do. I try to make exceptions as much as I can. I had jury duty yesterday and was able to wake up at 530am to play Iron. I would much rather have slept in on a freak occasion like that.

Hopefully this does not come off the wrong way, I just wanted to explain to you why I have issues with playing HUM games.

It's tough for us to play especially because we are both on CT. At least with everyone else they are an hour ahead so the times get more into their evenings. My schedule is this:

I'm usually in the office from 7:00 to at least 5:30. I have about a half hour drive home with traffic. I have kids so it's not an idea situation for me to get home and immediately start playing video games but I can/do. The kids have some type of practice activity every night except Wed. until about 8:00.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that my schedule from 6:00 am until 8:00 PM is pretty crammed with things I have to do. My wife occasionally gets [censored]ed when I play games early in the evening but she's adjusted. My youngest kids go to bed about 7:30 so if I play early I have 0 time to spend with them.

Really, we should probably stay away from playing one another. The way our schedules work our availability is the exact opposite. Unfortunally our teams are in the same conference so we are pretty screwed.

Piney, I have no idea what we should do here. I really dont want to SIM because its a sure loss for ATM but I'm not sure when we can play either.

Obviously I don't speak for everyone, or maybe not even the majority, and I don't know if there's a more delicate way to put this, but I think your post begs the question. Why play in three leagues where playing human opponents is such a big part of the leagues? Specifically, why play in a league where over half of your games require you to play games against humans that also have jobs, social lives, and family lives that do conform to a relative societal norm? If you know, going in, that there is a certain expectation to making yourself available to play a video game, and you can't or won't alter your schedule for someone else, but rather the rest of the league must always alter their schedule and bend over backwards in order to play you, why is that fair to everyone else?

WOOD, I've always thought you were a good poster, and I think that if I knew you in person, that you'd be a fun guy to hang out with, because you like to go out and have a good time so often. Having said that. I think that your insistence that everyone else understand and accept your schedule, and everyone must always play their games against you, when the vast majority of employed individuals are at work, is simply, selfish.

So are you saying you didn't like my idea for a battle of wits? I am sure you two can agree to a game challenge in the arcade or something

But a sim of the game seems like the only thing that can be done. Unless we can determine a fair way to decide a way one of you gets put on autopilot, and then the next time this happens the other person is put on autopilot. Or is that even fair? I don't recall... is either of you undefeated?

See, this is where me forgetting my slip of paper next to my PS3 where I have all the game results jotted down sucks... I really have to get those first few posts updated. Damn freaking work.

So just because I have a life outside of BP I cannot play in some video game leagues? You saying you can only play between 10pm-10am is not selfish? How many people do you know who are employed, can play during those hours? We all have issues come up. I only have problems playing Base. Or so it seems that way, because like he said we both are CT. For you and the others on EST, it is much easier to play.

I really dont think its selfish of me, its just the way it is. I dont expect people to play me at 2 in the afternoon if they are working. I have never once hinted at the fact. Each and every person has times that they can or cannot play. I really dont see how I am any different in that aspect.

I think we all need to realize that this is a video game. None of us are making money off these dynasties. No one is gaining anything, other than maybe pride in knowing they are good at NCAA10. Its not life or death.

Back to the situation on hand. I will give you guys til Friday, who knows, schedules might change right before the weekend to free either of you for the other guy's time.

But come Friday night I will advance to the next week if you guys don't see your schedules aligning, probably around 11pm/12pm ET. Hopefully since you guys are in opposite divisions you can settle this score in the Conference Championship Game.

I was hesitant to post my thoughts on this but I figured might as well. It's difficult for me to call someone out for doing things other than video games but...... Like IBI said, I like Wood and always enjoy his posts on this board but the reality of it is that I feel like I'm going way out of my way to schedule times because Wood wants to do something.

Neither of us is undefeated but both are ranked. I have 1 loss and Wood has 2. My problem is this... Wood cant play because he goes out to dinner or does something he wants to do. I am shorting responsiblities that I have to do, not that I want to do. Yesterday, I cancelled several things at work to get home and play at 6:00. Then yesterday afternoon I find out 6:00 isn't going to work after I confirmed multiple times that it would. So I once again go out of my way to cancel some more things so I can get home by 5:30 to play the game. Once there, the game is interrupted at 5:44 and there is no time to try and get it in? That doesn't seem right to me. I've jumped through too many hoops in the past and I really can't keep doing that.

From my perspective I have done everything I can to get this game in. It's not like there are things that I want to do getting in the way. Last year I took half days from work so I could get my games in with Wood and I'm honestly kind of tired of it. In the last year of 09 I took a loss because the circumstances were the same and I would rather not this time.

You never once confirmed until 3pm yesterday.

How do I/we anyone know that you are "moving things around" to play video games. I could lie and same the same shit. ITS A VIDEO GAME! You cannot play this weekend because you are going to SPI, seems like thats something you want to do.

I dont see what the big deal. Two people have schedules. Those schedules dont work out. SIM the game. Is it really that big of a deal?

Hey, when you guys randomily select draft order, what website do you use?

I use this website

DraftPickLottery.com - random draft order tool for fantasy sports leagues

There was another website that offered to email each person for free, I just didn't save that website. But I found it via a google search for 'random draft order' and you will find a ton of websites, you just have to surf through them to find one you like.

My dilemna is I see both sides of the argument. This is just a game afterall. And like basebuck pointed out neither team is undefeated. If one team was undefeated it would make things easier as I would then just let the undefeated team play the cpu. So why not sim?

Then I see basebuck & Iron's argument that Wood does have a difficult schedule. And if this is too much of a burden then why is he playing?

But like Wood says, he does want to play on his own schedule and in this dynasty he only has this issue with 4/5 games a season and he still wants the enjoyment of playing the 8 cpu games and get what human games he can get in and enjoys recruiting. And I see nothing wrong with that.

Then to flip it back to basebuck & Iron's argument. If that is Wood's view, then we should just put him on autopilot when these conflicts arise so the other player can play out his game and not leave it to the NCAA2010 Sim Gods.

But how fair is that to Wood then? Cuz then people can on purpose not be available when Wood is available so they can get the easy autopilot victory.

Then throw in the amount of disconnects the NCAA10 version is having and it really throws a wrench in all of this. Cuz when the stars align and they can play, a freaking disconnect ruins that small window of opportunity.

My suggestion to basebuck is not to bend over backwards. If you have work appointments, don't fuck that up just to try to get a game in. Now if you can leave work early by 15-20 minutes to get a game in and it doesn't affect work, go for it. Don't cancel social events just to get a game in. If the stars align, they will on their own (like how wood had jury duty and was able to play Iron)

If it means we wait an extra day or two, so be it. If the game means something we will wait. If the game means little, a sim is the fair way. But I still like my battle of wits idea :wink2:

I am sure Wood is a good guy and probably would say 'go ahead put me on autopilot if it makes basebuck happy'. Not that he would be happy about it, but he 'cares' less and to not rock the boat will just let it happen. But he shouldn't have to do/say that.

But this is the first season of 2010, if we continue this as long as we did 2009 this issue will come up again alot since they play every season and their life schedules will always make this an issue. So we should come up with some solution. I just don't know which one yet.

The point is this is a consistant problem we have every single year. I've probably went too far out of my way to try and get these game in and that's what's irritating me. I've been able to schedule games with everyone on here and I don't believe they have been at inconvinient times for them. Didnt you have a game in the other dynasty that you couldnt play because of schedule conflicts?

I enjoy playing these games and would rather not SIM but whatever Piney wants to do.

Also, you could lie and say the same shit but you already put your schedule on here so it probably wouldnt be that believable.

This is a good point. Its not fair to me nor anyone in the same situation. I just cannot get over why if two people cannot get their schedules to coincide its the end of the world and one is a bad person.

I have never asked either of you to accommodate me by switching things up in your schedule.
