NCAA09 PS3 BP Online Dynasty

Outside of the last menu before starting a game, is there a way to change defensive philosophies? I only have one good DT, and my 4* stud DE is best suited for a 3-4 (87 strength, 56 speed). I may need to hire Romeo Crennel (He should be available) and run a 3-4.

You can't do anything but view your coaching strategy during the offseason.

Changing your base defense during the season is pretty simple. Just go to coaching strategy. Hit R1 or L1 until you reach your defensive strategy. The available 'D's are 4-4, 4-3, 3-4, 3-3-5 Stack, and 4-2-5. I use multiple D when I play with CMU, and will use it this year with Kentucky, after using 4-2-5 over the last two season with Kentucky. Multiple D is not available from the Coaching Strategy menu. I have to decide what D will get me the recruits that I need and go with that for the season. Oddly enough. 4-4 is not available from the pregame screen.

Setting your playbook for your coaching strategy has been mostly useless, except for recruiting purposes. Every game that I've played has the 4-3 listed as the default defense in the pregame screen, and I've had to manually change it.

I don't think it is available now since you can't access recruiting. But when you set your recruiting settings you can switch up your coaching strategy. (But that is mainly to set up how many recruits your team 'needs')

Now regarding making it the default defense that pops up for a game, well. I have been able to do that for my offensive playbook. But not sure if it works for defensive playbooks. Then again, you only have 3-4 defensive playbooks to scroll through on the start up screen for a game.

How I snaked Matt Vaughn (3* DT 75 OVR w/ 91 STR) away from MSU is beyond me. He had me listed as N/A as late as week 3 of recruiting, after MSU came out of no where and offered him to jump to #2 on his list. TAMU was sitting at the top of his list since day one, and never offered the guy. I'd been pounding that guys door down since midway through the season, and was getting no where. Luckily he stuck around long enough for me to promise him the world, and since DT was a very real depth issue for me, he will start as a true freshmen. I have one guy in the 80s and a bunch of guys that are in the low 70s. Even if they do train to pass Vaughn's 75 overall rating, I need his strength in the middle, and he'll definitely start.

When are we going to try and finish position changes? It would be nice to get to Depth Charts during the break but that seems unlikely at this point.

We will advance from position changes to cuts whenever everybody is done. I probable will check up on it tonight to see where we at.

But when I do advance, I am thinking of leaving the training results up for a few hours. I can come back here and post that the training results are up if anyone wants to look at them and give people a window to look at them if they so desire before I advance to cuts.

Is that accessed from the recruiting menus? Because accessing that [censored] from the main menu only lets you look at what your offensive and defensive strategies are, but they're grayed out and can't be changed. Changing the recruiting strategy is available from the recruiting menu and the main menu.

One thing that drives me crazy about recruiting sometimes. I got 3-4 4* guys to get me #1 on their recruiting list midway through in-home visits. But none of them asked for in-home vists :(

Bastards!

Oh, scary thing. You think losing my 81 rated QB early to the NFL draft would set back a team like SMU that passes 99% of the time. Thankfully the frosh QB I brought in is rated an 81 with 85 THP and 92 THA !

Wait... does this mean I don't have anymore excuses to throw 50 Ints in a year?

It'll be alright. I'm sure that you'll just go back to the old standby "Superman Linebacker" excuse. :wink2:

Yep, you can access that from the recruiting menus. (think it is the same menu option where you pick CPU recruiting assistance, but you have to hit R1/L1 to get to that option) But I don't think it helps in changing your default offense/defense right before you start a game.

I don't care about the pregame default defense [censored]. I use Multi D and would have to manually change it to that, pregame, anyway. It is nice to know that you can change your default coaching strategy from the recruiting screen, during recruiting, because it'll let me let a recruit know that the D will change to fit them. I now have three RS Seniors at MLB. The last two seasons I had 4-3 or 4-2-5 listed as my default defense, and wasn't able to offer a potential MLB recruit any playing time. When I did offer PT, the ungrateful suckass transferred because he was second string. I even redshirted my best MLB (true senior at the time) so the whiney freshmen could get some reps. Hopefully having a 4-4 defense listed as my default will allow me to recruit MLBs and keep and recruit DTs. I have a [censored]load of safeties, so if I lose one of those guys, due to the 4-4 defense, I'll still be ok going forward.

Updated Schedule

Just thought to update the schedule a bit since we know where we are at with everything after this crazy weekend. GREAT JOB GUYS in getting stuff done quickly!

Like I said earlier we have advanced to Position Changes. As long as the people that are gone for Xmas can get their stuff done before they go, the following schedule will get us to next year.

The next step is fluid, when everyone is done with position changes. That can be tonight, or Xmas Eve or Xmas day... I will advance.

I will advance to Training Results and I will announce on here that we have advanced to Training Results. I will leave them up for X Hours ( I will post how long I will leave them up for people to look at if they wish)

After those 'viewing hours' we will advance to cuts.

December 27th or 28th 10pm - Advance to Preseason schedule (I will post schedules and all that fun stuff over the weekend so be aware I will be PM'ing any schedule question/comments if I have any)

December 31 7pm - Advance to 2010 Season Week 1.

January 4 (Sunday) - Back to normal Thursday/Sunday schedule

I know you don't care, that was for the benefit of Smooth who brought on this line of conversation we had this morning. Ie, I was trying to circle back to his original comment. Crappy attempt eh?
