To user catch you hit L2 to straffe and triangle to jump
Hold them both at the same time and keep holding through the whole play

Using the stick is to aim where you want the ball to go. If you press to the left or right with your movement stick, the ball will be thrown in that direction. So, if your receiver is streaking down the sideline and the middle of the field is wide open, you can throw the ball in that direction and let the receiver run under it.

I use the stick to lead people on throws but that is not what I use to catch the ball.

Using the stick takes a ton of practice

I actually don't use the stick, the easier method is using the D-Pad as it seems to be more accurate. I love using it on crossing routes just to make sure the pass isn't thrown behind the WR for an easy pick.

But for deep passes I am still not as deadly as basebuck is. But I think you really need a QB with a high THP to really abuse it.

But I have had a ton of practice since SMU throws 50+ passes a game easy.

Daniels is awesome. Is he still your QB?

The operative word for Daniels is 'was' awesome, as he broke his dick early in the season and is out for the year. Along with his stud WR too I believe. But I am sure BN will have a tirade coming regarding this shortly...

I only throw short passes to open up my vertical stuff. The stick works better for me catching the ball but the d pad works well throwing. I guess its just preference

That is how I do it, d-pad to throw, stick to catch. But I still kinda suck on the catching part.

And I throw the ball short cuz that is my 'running' game

Are you throwing a bunch of rocket catches? I would be unhappy if we played and you did that all game.

I don't know if you would call them rocket catches. (I always hear about it, but not really sure what it means) Basically he just lobs the ball deep and let's his 99 speed WR outrun the DBs. But he doesn't do that all game long nor every play (or series) But then again he crushed me by only using it once cuz the fear of that play opened up alot of other stuff for him. But Iron might be able to tell you how often he uses it since it was the championship game (or the other Big 12 guys since they play him more often)

No, they're bombs. Big, lofty, rainbow passes. At least I wouldn't classify them as rocket catches. No whipping at hard as you can into heavy coverage at least.

Alot. But considering "whole series" consisted of; 40 yard bomb followed run after catch for TD...or, rest of series in the redzone...I don't think he had a chance to do it for a whole series. :tongue2:

No. I take what the defense gives me. If you take away the deep game I'll go right at the safety the whole game. The way I throw the deep ball the Defense has every bit the oppurtunity to catch the ball as I do. It's usually just a matter if the DB's are fast enough. What the hell is a rocket catch? I'm going to learn it just so I can use it against you :wink2:

You kept bringing your safety up to support the run. What was I supposed to do? Run the ball at your safety? I kept expecting you to take it away.

The rocket pass bug isn't that bad in NCAA as it was in Madden 08. Every now and then I'll end up using it, but it's not like I'm going, "Fuck it. Rocket pass." Instead, I use it when I need to get the ball in a tight spot as quick as possible.

Of course, my QB with the nasty 82 THP (cower in fear!) usually doesn't throw it as hard as I'd like.

I recruited some big WR's so two can play at that game :)

I'll just nano blitz you every time you try and throw over my coverage

I have no idea what a nano blitz is...

I really don't throw deep all that much. I will if it's given to me but I'm content pounding it out too.

I definitly threw deep against IBI more than anyone else. I don't feel like I abused it against anyone. It was more having to plan against it that benefits me.

Nerf Rocket Catch?

That's incorrect. The very first play was a cover three. The safety and CB that you threw it against were both in deep coverage. Most of the rest of the game was press coverage with the corners, and deep coverage with at least one 6'4" 94 spd safety. My free safety was bailing on nearly every play, and had to scramble back to the line on running plays. The real problem was that my corner that had man responsibilties on Jordan is only 5'9" and wasn't able to get a good enough jam for my rush to get to your QB. However, there is no good excuse for me not making a play on those deep balls, with the personnel I have at safety, except that I don't practice defending the deep ball nearly enough.

With the same personnel and the same coverage, buchtel, fanatic, maybe Piney, and maybe Olaf would have been able to stop the deep ball.

If I were you. I would have done exactly what you did, once it was clear that I wasn't stopping you.
