Im against capping speed or any type of house rules. I think if you are good enough to recruit the best players you should be rewarded. they dont cap speed in real life.

I agree.

But if I had to choose between capping speed or any of the above house rules, capping speed would win out every time.

I have speed out the wazoo in this league, but none at all in the MAC league. I think it's moreso the sliders than anything, because I beat Mizzou, LSU, and Tennessee as bad or worse in that dynasty than I've beaten some teams in this dynasty. I really don't think it's about speed anymore. It's gotten to the point where we're all so good to the fact that we play with inferior teams and still dominate like we do. The speed cap, most likely won't solve any issues.

No offense, but I completely diagree. I have nowhere near the speed as many in this league. Therefore speed is a huge issue to me....my fault for taking over a 74 rated team.

However, having played games with these sliders with players with 97 plus speed is completely different. When no one can catch you on the defense and you can run away from any computer controlled players, It is a huge advantage.

This is ithe case in user vs. computer or user vs. user game! In my opinion it requires absolutley no skill to hand the ball off to a tailback, watch him bounce it outside, then make a slight hesistation, and sprint to the outside going untouched for 50 yds. Ask Basebuck, he can do this at will, and so can anyone else with a 97+ (spd, agi, acc) tailback.

Better yet, lets throw in the crossing route that everyone loves to run. Dumping the ball off to a WR and letting him outrun every db for 30 yds also requires no skill.

I just beleive that capping the speed makes the league more competitive and gives everyone a fair advantage. Not to mention, it makes the user vs. computer games more fun. Because right now, winning every game 77 - 7 is pretty lame.

In all honesty, I support any decision, but am definitely in favot of capping speed

I don't know. I would think it had more to do with defensive scheme than anything. Basebuck just played a game where his RB only had 51 yards. If you can stop Basebuck's running game, you can stop anybody's. There's a way to stop everything. I could completely shut down his 99 speed WR, but then he'd run all over me. But isn't that how it is in real life? I don't think it's as much about speed as people say, because, like I said, I have no team speed in the MAC dynasty, and I'm doing quite fine.

I'll play either way, but I just think it has to be some other solution before we begin to limit speed. I'll look around and see if I can find something.

Buchtel brings up a good point. Whoever it was that I played the last game completely sold out to stop the run so I went over the top quite a bit. This might be the most realistic part of the game in User vs. User. If you sell out to stop something you will get killed. Even though Buchtel and I have the top 2 RB's (stats wise) in the league right now, I'm pretty sure we slowed each other down quite a bit when we played.

I love the current sliders in the Human games, its the User vs. CPU games that get out of hand. For example, I usually end up running when I have 3rd and long because it's safer and I know I can always pick up 20 yards.

Like Buchtel said, I've really enjoyed playing and am in either way. To me, the user games are perfect but the CPU games are never in doubt. Shouldn't we have a couple of scares per year in CPU games?

I agree, in user vs. user games it definitely can be controlled.

But, in my opinion (which may or may not say alot) it is a HUGE advantage to have 97+ speed everywhere. Example, Army is at a huge disavantage playing against aTm. Now, perhaps this is "our" fault for not selecting B12/SEC/B10 teams that were on a down year. But it is much harder to recruit this type of speed to those <Army, ECU, TCU, etc.> teams (BTW, I think I am doing fine at TCU). But we are starting to get a HUGE discrepency in Team Overall ratings in this league. If this is not an issue, then why cap it at 79 for original selection???? I understand the argument of rewarding good recruiting, but the recruiting game is not necessarly equal......

Bottom line, user vs. user games are not my beef anyway, I just want it to be more realistic when I play the computer. Winning every game by 70 is not realistic (Either are Basebuck's RB stats, which by the way are amazing!)

Correct you are. But I honestly believe we're all gonna blow out the computer anyway, no matter what the speed cap is.

On another note, why did MSU's overall rating drop the last couple seasons? I've had rather good recruiting classes, and still see a decrease in overall ratings.

You're right, your team speed is improving quickly. It's also true that the recruiting game is not equal. I have a number of Elite pitches I can throw out while I'm doubting you and Piney do.

And yeah, my running back stats are pretty good but I honestly have not even run the ball for the past 3 games. I started off running the ball most of the time but I've been having fun throwing the ball lately. I'm pretty sure I've only run 10-15 times with my premiere HB the last 2 or 3 games. I think my wr is leading the Heisman race while my RB, who is averaging over 20 ypc, is in second. The worst thing is that I'm actually checking stats to make sure I'm balanced so I don't put up Captain Blumpkin type numbers.

To your point about the descrepancies in team ratings. I think it is going to get far worse next year. MSU is dominating recruiting this year. With the Downs kid and the group of WR's in East Lansing they are going to be tough to beat.
Didn't you start a year late too? That hurts as well.

Damn, you think so? [censored], maybe I should tone it down a little bit. Maybe I shouldn't get 7 User Picks a game.
:slappy:

Your defensive stats crack me up everytime I look at them. I always think I'm doing pretty well with like 10 picks with a guy. Then I look at the list and your guy has like 25. You do it against me everytime we play too.

For the record. I beat all three of you guys in the MAC Dynasty with my 97 spd HB (Harris) injured and I had to use my 89 spd guy. Technically I had Harris for the first quarter of my game vs. buchtel before he got injured again, but I was still stuck with a slower HB for the majority of that game.

I don't have a point. I just wanted to brag a little.

id vote to just leave it how it is

speed is part of the game, and if you can recruit it I dont think it should be taken away from you

And as of now that seems like what we will be doing.

Tried to test editing speed, and to much of my surprise I could not edit any of the players ratings. Didn't have much time to research the 'how' so that is my next step to see if there is a work around. But I have a feeling the answer will be 'no'

So time to slow down on the speed ratings (pun intended) as we might not be able to edit the speed ratings down.

Also, I corrected my post yesterday. I will be home on Tuesday at noon.

Hopefully Fanatic is all done. (if he ain't, he better post a darn good reason before I leave for home or else I will advance no matter what :wink2:)

I plan on advancing as soon as I get home (no later than 6pm). So everyone can play a game and get some recruiting in when they check their MAC team to see who they ended up getting.

FYI - We will advance per usual on Thursday night. So if you can't get done by then, let me know.
