NCAA09 PS3 Big Ten-Pac Ten Dynasty (Official Thread)

Posts 2, 3, and 4 have been updated. Complete with human opponent records. If anyone thinks that I didn't count a human vs. human win or loss, this season, that I should have counted. Let me know.

Any game against someone on autopilot, or a simmed game does not count as a human opponent win or loss. That's why Oregon and Illinois were both undefeated against human opponents this season.

By way of simulation, Illinois has won the National Title and the B10P10 title 24-7.

Whobe was up 28-23 with the ball, with over a minute left, when he and Piney got disconnected.

Really you should give Whobe the win and me the loss. I still had to stop Whobe to force him to punt and then score a TD to win all with like 90 seconds left (but I did still have my 3 TOs)

It really was a great game. Well, if you call me being totally stupid for 3 quarters til I started playing well (or should I say getting lucky)

It was early in the 4th quarter as I was down 28-10, I was able to score a TD and then with 3+ minutes left I went for the onside kick and recovered. Of course I get another TD. I decided to go for 2 pts and screwed that pooch so it was 28-23 with 2:40 left.

With all 3 of my timeouts left it just didn't feel right to hit another onside kick. Then thinking he would be in onside kick mode, I should be able to get a good kick off and pin him back. He still got to the 30 yard line.

He actually moved the ball on me a bit (like he had all game) I had time so I was saving my TOs for a good 1st down stop. Finally got my stop with 1:30 left (or somewhere around there), and then on 2nd down whobe tried a WR screen and my guy was in the middle of pancaking him and then BOOM 'Your opponent has been disconnected' or whatever that disconnect message is.

It was too late for whobe to play another time (and me as well). And whobe told me he would be busy all this week and most likely wouldn't be able to get online all week. So he suggested we let Iron sim it. And since really I was at the disadvantage still having to stop whobe, and then drive 70+ yards for the TD (if he punted) it wasn't like it was a sure thing. Probably my odds were less than 50/50. So I took the sim versus us and whobe trying to see if he would have a free hour or so to get a game in and probable miss more than anything and keep us waiting a week til we got our game in.

I am just pissed I lost so bad in the sim, cuz in the 4-6 times I simmed to the offseason, I won the championship every time. So I figured it was a sure thing, dang you Iron, your PS3 simming engine has to be broken

Yeah, not trying to discount Whobe's championship or anything like that, but the game was never finished and was still in doubt.

Based on your description of the way the game was turning, and your record of dramatic finishes I can't say one way or another. The way I think it would have turned out is that you make the stop on third down and either take it down and score to win, or at least scare the piss out of Whobe and take it down to the wire for a near miss.

Congratulations to Whobe on winning the championship. He won enough games and beat enough good teams for it to be legit. Not counting the final win as a "human win" doesn't mean that he didn't have a great season.

I just felt bad for you, because you finally beat me and fanatic and had a shot at the NCG comeback, when EA servers happened.

BTW, I've simmed the game several times too, and Illinois won it 60-70% of the time.

Like I said... your sim engine on your PS3 must be broken :wink2:

I have no clue how I got there in the first place. My team wasn't that good, or at least how I like it. My one decent HB got hurt mid-season and my option QB broke his leg in week 4/5. I just used some smoke & mirrors to make it to the title game. Heck, even my stud WR was out the 2nd half of the title game. So it has felt like I was playing with one arm tied behind my back the whole season. So I was happy to get where I got this year. So Whobe deserves full credit for the win.

I'll be out of town from Thursday to Sunday evening. I'm going to the in-laws. They have an HDTV, so I'm going to bring the PS3. I want to see what the PS3 looks like in beautiful high def. They also have wireless, so I'll try to get on, but there's no guarantee I'll be able to.

Is it me or is there more success convincing players to stay doing it this way than in offline mode?
The success is intentional. Piney and I both give it more than one try if it's fairly obvious that it's a bogus transfer. It took me three tries to get Piney's 91 rated corner to stay. It took me two for your guy. I think that the rest of them decided to stay the first time around.
