Measure passes to move 3-point line back

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - College basketball players might want to start working on longer shots.

Two decades after adding the 3-point line, the NCAA men's basketball rules committee approved a measure Thursday that will move the line back one foot ? from 19 feet, 9 inches to 20 feet, 9 inches. If approved by the playing rules oversight committee on May 25, it would mark the first major change to 3-pointers since their adoption.
The change would not take place until November 2008.

Think about it this could chamge the whole game of college BB as we know it. Careers will be made and lost. This is HUGE!
I don't think it is that big... most 3 point shooters fire away from at least a foot behind the current line anyways. Sure it will affect 3-point percentages a bit, but not much. I agree with others that say "it's about time".

I don't think it will make much of a change. Oh sure it will affect some players who don't have the body strentgh to hit from 3 foot further for the whole game but they will adjust over a year or two. Then we will be right back where we are. Those who don't have that strentgh will lose out if they don't develop it.
A bigger thought is did the NBA cause this change so as to better prepare their future stars while they spend the training year in college??????
Think about that.

I would have preferred the International distance of 20' 6".

Now please switch to a 30-second shot clock and dump the 5-second rule.

And they should bring back the peach baskets you used when you invented the game!
