This whole saga has brought me a whole new appreciation for the lunacy of usc "fans". But, hey, let them cling to the last remnants of their glory. They're hamstrung by probation and saddled with a coach who has never shown an ounce of actual coaching ability. Troy is crumbling.

the funny thing is that USC fans are actually convinced that USC is going to win an appeal against the NCAA

I imagine it will take about 5 minutes of deliberating by the NCAA appeals committee to deny USC's appeal

I thought the RR bandwagon scUMmmers were bad with their blinders, but what is going on there is completely insane.

I do like how they all link the ESPN articles where Clarrett made his false accusations, but never do they post the SI (i think it was. edit:thank you Oh8ch) article or the follow up ESPN articles where Clarrett admitted that he lied and that Ohio State had no idea what he was getting and suspended him indefinitely once they found out what was going down.

I guess that they do not realize that admitting something was going on without your knowledge is a bit different than blatant disregard to what is going on with your knowledge.

Exactly what is this "Clarett precedent" that soccermom is referring to in the linked thread? Clarett was suspended by Geiger when it became apparent that Clarett lied about property stolen from his car at the WHAC. He never played another down for OSU because he refused to cooperate with OSU and the NCAA in their investigations of various allegations of wrongdoing. There was never a major infractions report related to anything Clarett. The NCAA turned over every rock it could get its hands on as it pertained to Tressel and his relationship with Clarett, car dealers, etc. The NCAA went so far as to investigate so called leads about shenanigans with Tressel at YSU. I am having trouble understanding how the Clarett matter serves as a precedent.

Because the dumb twat can't comprehend that the benefits from Lake to Bush resulted in a termination of amateur status; whereas, Clarett's benefits did not.

It's been stated overtly and she can't grasp it.

The joint OSU/NCAA investigation never did resolve when Clarett first received impermissible benefits and whether such a receipt should have been known by OSU as an institution. Clarett was declared ineligible by Geiger sometime after the 2003 spring game for violating Bylaw 10 when Clarett lied about stolen items from his car to the athletic department and the NCAA. The ineligibily at that point in time did not extend back to the 2002 season since nothing had surfaced to indicate Clarett was ineligible for the 2002 season. The continuing investigation was geared toward finding if and when Claret became ineligible for receiving impermissible benefits. Clarett got pissed off when he realized that he was going to serve at least a 6 game suspension for the Bylaw 10 violation that occured in 2003 and as a result did not cooperate in the investigations.

When heralded football signee Seantrel Henderson from Cretin-Derham Hall didn't show up as scheduled last week for orientation at the University of Southern California, new coach Lane Kiffin, recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron, offensive line coach James Cregg and top assistant Monte Kiffin took a private jet to the Twin Cities on Monday to make sure the 6-foot-8, 330-pound left tackle still was committed.

In the wake of NCAA penalties to USC that include no bowl appearances for the next two seasons, as well as the loss of 30 scholarships over the next three years, there has been conjecture that Henderson has reconsidered his commitment to USC and that Miami and Ohio State could be back in the hunt.

Reached Tuesday, Henderson's father, Sean, had no comment, and Seantrel, who some day could be a first-round NFL draft pick, did not return phone messages.
