NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

McKnight situation, Bush situation, Jarrett situation, etc. It's almost like the NCAA wants so badly to have a big-time program in the huge market that is L.A. that it is doing everything it can to look the other way.

It was all just ANOTHER misunderstanding!
Seems to be LOTS of those these days!

Paraphrasing Petey here:

That conversation never happened... we ordered Town Car, not a limo... there is no investigation (re Bush to a recruit).... what's the big deal about dinner at a Greek restaurant?... I'm trying to deal with agents, so I called the NFL for help (wrong, that's USC's responsibility, not the NFL's).... Jarrett... Bush's family.... and so on and so on.

All the markings of lack of institutional control, IMO

This is just getting ridiculous either he talked to him or he didnt, whe you have 3 different people saying different things, then something obvously happened, and when a kid says something along the lines of we were on speakerphone yadda yadda yadda, and then his high school coach and Petey try and cover it up, is it not obvious to everyone else that it happened...

It is kinda like Daddy bringing a girl over to the house and little Susie telling mommy, only to have Daddy promise little susie some Candy later if she tells mommy that there was no other girl at the house, that she made it up...While daddy denies...now what reason does the little girl have to make this story up, none...It is like the NCAA is playing hte naive wife and saying o yeah I believe he didnt have another girl over, when everyone on the outside looking in knows that is not the truth...

I just wonder how they keep escaping any trouble, I mean most schools the second there is even a rumor the NCAA is all over it, but with USC they just seem to walk away.

They have had several rumored violations now, isn't it time for the NCAA to do a full on investigation?

Seems to me after reading that article that Pete basically called Joe McKnight a liar.

"That never happened."

So the kid made up that story about Pete setting up a three way call between Reggie, Pete, and Joe???

How do you misspeak about that kind of thing?

"Oh wait, I know that I said that I was on a three way conference call with Coach Carroll, Reggie Bush, and my coach, but that's not what I meant. I meant that I wasn't."

This is unbelievable. Literally.

This one is fairly simple for me. The NCAA should require USC and McKnight and/or his coach to provide the telephone records. If the conference call occurred (or if Carroll had Bush on one phone and McKnight on another at the same time, which would allow denial of a "conference call"), McKnight should be barred from attending USC.

Any penalties for USC should be determined after all of the investigations are completed.
