NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

I wonder if Seantrel Henderson is having any second thoughts today?

When Senatrel Henderson signed with USC, I thought I read that the signing would be non-binding if USC was punished by the NCAA. However, I am not seeing that anymore. Everyhone seems to be saying he would have to wait a year if he transferred.

Maybe the non-binding stage was when he waited the extra few weeks, signing only when he had to, not as soon as he could, as 99% of folks do?

I see it as a pity that he got seduced by the neon and glitter, and now has to learn the hard way about "boring".

It was non-binding only if the Hendersons have to move out of Bush's family's old home.. haaaaaaaaa..

I have no pity. He's an adult now. He had plenty of time to weight his options and make a balanced, informed, an objective decision. He knew there was a possibility of sanctions, and yet he still picked USC over all over schools, none of which were facing sanctions of any sort. He and his dad DJ Humpty Henderson got what they desreved...

My understanding is that only sophomores and juniors (juniors and seniors to be) would be free to transfer and play immediately because they would have lost the opportunity of playing in a bowl game. A freshman would have to sit the year out because he would be eligible for a bowl game his junior year -- unless Mike Garrett keeps pushing the issue and pisses the NCAA off enough to add to the sanctions. Don't know about recruits. Probably tied up in letter-of-intent rules.

IIRC once a player signs the LOI they are subject to the one year sit out rule - which is in essence what the "intent" portion of the LOI is all about.

I just laughed when I heard bout what the NCAA handed down to USC. Then, reading how Garrett and Carroll responded. How delusional, but not surprised. They're just pissed cause their world got ROCKED!!

I believe, Oh8ch, that the sanctions effectively allow Henderson (and any other 2010 recruits) to leave their LOIs on the table and play immediately for any other team. The same applies for current players - they can transfer and play immediately.
