NCAA (Not Caring About Anyone)

I hope so. Not unlike Fred Taylor who was criticized for not signing players off a great Columbus East team. Fred claimed the kids were demanding cars and money and they ended up signing with Louisiana Tech I believe.

I never heard that they demanded cars an/or money; however, it wouldn't surprise me if they did. It is no secret that that kind of thing went on back in those days, i.e. it is now common knowledge that a guy named Sam Gilbert was instrumental in helping UCLA (John Wooden) recruit their star players.

Nick Conner - Illinois
Ed Ratliff - Long Beach State
Dwight "Bo" Lamar - University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formally University of Southwestern Louisiana)

So, the NCAA delayed handing down UNC's punishment yesterday because they didn't want to interfere with UNC announcing a new capital campaign. Not sure what signal that sends.

Re: AUGUST 18, 2017 4:19 PM...It took 1,143 days for the NCAA investigation into UNC-Chapel Hill to reach the NCAA Committee on Infractions, which is like the judge and jury in a major infractions case. And now: more waiting.

There never seems to be any since of urgency on the NCAA's part on any investigation, so what difference does a few more days make?

While I have little doubt as to the ineffectivness of the NCAA, it's up to the colleges and the conferences to step up to the plate if they want to clean up college sports. They, not the NCAA, own the games. I think in most instances, including Ohio State, the acamadicians hold their breath and pray their coaches don't get caught before they can retire.
Are you thinking of Ratleff and Lamar? Edde Ratleff went to Long Beach and Dwight Lamar went to SW Louisiana. Two of the most amazing HS bball players I have ever seen.

So tomorrow is supposed to be the Big day for UNC unless of course it conflicts with a faculty brown bag lunch on spectral astronomy or the humanity of Tolstoy's later novels.

It was supposed to be last Friday, then they push the delay back a full week to do it this Friday. You know. Seems like the NCAA is hell bent on doing a friday afternoon news dump with this. What organizations do when they want the announcement to disappear over the weekend.

Things you don't fuck with: UNC/UK basketball, ND anything, SEC over signing, Sunbelt holiday tourism.

These fucking feckless fucks are completely powerless at this point. There will never be another Power 5 school to have their 2 major revenue sports teams sanctioned. What even is the point anymore for the P5 schools to follow any kind of rules?

Well hold on there certainly large scale academic fraud doesn't reach to the level of trading personal items for tattoos. If there was any of that going on then they would have to hit them hard

Well now every school is gonna have classes that dont meet and are an automatic A....

Way way worse than tatoos.

And Louisville just needed to make the hookers available to all students.
Take off the scarlet glasses for a second. Tattoos are above murder.

Go to fake classes, don't attend class, commit repeated academic misconduct.... meh....

Meanwhile;
Former Ohio State basketball recruit Braxton Beverly has been ruled ineligible for the upcoming season at North Carolina State. Beverly was one of the last recruits to sign at the end of the Thad Matta era at Ohio State.

After Matta was fired in early June, Beverly announced his transfer North Carolina State.

After Ohio State released Beverly from his letter of intent, Beverly had hoped to be eligible to play this upcoming season for the Wolfpack.

He never appeared in a game for the Buckeyes, was released from his intent, one could think that this would be doable for a kid who wanted to leave after his coach was fired, right?

Wrong.

The NCAA's decision to rule Beverly ineligible is reportedly stemming from the guard enrolling — and actually attending — a summer class while training at Ohio State in the summer.
