NCAA Football 12 (PS3) Online Dynasty (Discussion)

No. I would, but since you booted Vanderbilt out of the SEC instead of Alabama or Florida in your 2011 dynasty, I'll only boot the lowest rated teams that aren't really in that conference. From the Big Ten, I'll boot Rutgers for Ohio, but not Indiana. Call it the Piney Rule.
That was me. I thought it would dilute good conferences too much to boot a good team for a terrible one. It turned out that if I had booted some good teams to lesser conferences, the guys in those lower conferences would've been able to achieve a harder schedule and maybe gotten into better bowl games...lessons learned.

Coaching Carousel is also something that will be new this year. I like the idea for being able to change teams during the season, and I also need to figure out how many stars the coaches get. I'm thinking of keeping the default coaching star ratings. Also, if someone wants to start as an offensive or defensive coordinator, that could be cool. I'm not sure how much fun that would be for user v. user games, though.

I have heard people on planning on starting as coaches on 1* prestige teams and then to see how high you can move up. If we did something like that, it would be an all out fight to try to move up fast enough to get the Ohio State job.

But like you, not sure how the gameplay is for user v user games.

That sounds fun, everyone start out as an OC or DC at a low level school and work their way up. My guess, given EA's record, either offense or defense will probably be easier to move up the ranks, so we'll probably have to keep an eye on that.

The way I understand it, you can, if you want, start as an OC or DC. If you're an OC, you call and play offense and you can either watch the defense or sim it. You still recruit. You can then eventually get HC job offers. If people want to do this, that's cool. Personally, I want to start as a head coach because I like playing both offense and defense.

Me too. It'll royally piss me off if I put up 70 points with my offense only to have the idiot computer DC throw the 4-3 package out there against 5 WR sets.

My main concern with the coordinators is how big of an advantage does the best user get for advancing faster to a HC position? Does that make things even more imbalanced for the guys already distancing themselves with wins? Obviously they will have earned it, but will it be like playing with one hand behind your back or will the AI be smart enough to execute your smarter than the AI playcalling?

Ok. Screw that. :p I was thinking that it would be more along the lines of being able to call the plays, but not being able to take control of the players themselves, and that a HC would have play-calling ability for both sides of the ball, but still not be able to take control of the players. If the coach or coordinator can still control the players that they're in charge of, then I'll just stick with the normal way of playing the game.

The good thing about being able to change teams in OD's is the obvious potential for advancement. The bad thing is that no one's really going to care about recruiting until the end.

I'm looking at four options:

1) Leave the conferences as is. No changing teams once the OD starts, but I'll move the team you choose into the conference you want.

2) Leave the conferences as is. You can only choose teams outside the BCS but you can accept job offers.

3) Super-Conferences, keep your teams throughout, but you can move your team into one of the Super-Conferences to begin the OD.

4) Super-Conferences, you start outside the four super-conferences, and but you can accept job offers.

As I said earlier, I'm prone to the Super Conferences. From the responses, most of you are as well. I'm still weighing the option to take job offers. I enjoy recruiting, so I'm kind of apprehensive. But man, it would be cool to try to go from a 2* to a 6* school.

I'm not a fan of re-aligning the conferences.

I like Option #2 the best.

I propose this wrinkle: Nobody's allowed to take the Ohio State job. Let's face it - we'd all want it and we'd all probably employ a scorched earth style of play until one of us got it.
