NCAA Football 10 (PS3) BP Super Conference

The one thing I would warn you guys is to be cautious with hit sticking. Tackling is harder with these sliders, and hit sticking is almost a guaranteed way to spring your opponent for a big play.

There are more broken tackles with these sliders, but overall the gameplay is more fluid and logical. You get a lot less canned animations and warping players. The mistakes/TOs I've had with these sliders were a lot less stupid than the ones before we switched (a LOT less of the QB pressure = lame duck pass to the DL, or the superman DL goes glitching through the offensive line).

I just played a game with these sliders vs CPU which isn't always the best indicator; but...

Ballard and Stoney dropped 7 passes combined - not so good
You have to make quick decisions passing - good
WR's caught the ball fine - good
WR's beat Illini DB's off the line consistently - good
RB's were normal, no better no worse from what I saw - push
DL were slower in containment - not so good, especially with scrambling QB's Bauserman was outrunning DL easily
Juice was very erratic - good (normal)

Much more challenging overall. My big concerns playing cpu was the dropped passes. If QB's feet werent set (Pryor or Bauserman) the receiver didn't catch the pass. But that may be a good thing too. I didn't notice as many animations vs. CPU. Want to see how a human game goes.

Merih & I both feel like the gameplay is more intelligent, driven more by your schemes/decisions than freak animations and glitches leading to scores or turnovers. It's definitely more challenging.

I don't think we had as many problems with drops, but we weren't using your sliders before, so perhaps that's part of it.

BTW, my first half with these sliders, I despised them. Boise State was throwing all over my outstanding defense. I eventually adjusted and the scoring went down. I also started being more dedicated in my tackling and less aggressive with my hit sticks and blitzing angles.

One gripe is that the pass rush isn't that great even with a blitz, but the flipside is that they win 1v1 battles at a more human pace. A DT might swim past a guard or a DE beats the tackle outside, but they don't seem to warp past them as much.

The DBs tend to drop a lot of INTs with these, especially if it's raining. My first game against boise they seemed oblivious to INT opportunities, but the 3 I've played since then the awareness was fine.

Deep balls against 1v1 zone coverage seems to be more favorable to the WR. In my limited experience, you need to help out the safety at times, which is how it should be (versus the 'ed reed float across INT' animation that gets triggered constantly on deep balls).

I am excited about this one... I should have had these sliders for our game last night. Might have slowed your freakish DE skills down a bit.

Nice. I can go back to my A&M 09 offense. Where did I stick Jordan?

I hate this. This creates a huge exploit that is already being taken advantage of by some. I get so tired of people having one side loaded and then just running around the end with a fast QB.

I can live with passes dropped in coverage. But these drops were WIDE open; no defenders around. Not sure if it is QB rating or TE rating though?

Illinois was getting consistent pressure in the game I played. Seemed like it was always with a move of some sort, so you could see it coming at least.

 The one positive thing about '10 is SPD is not the only factor to WR.

My drops seemed a bit more QB related. With Godfrey (my RS Sr pocket passer) I completed almost all of my passes besides the two INTs (which were mistakes on my part). With my backup soph QB, I had more trouble completing passes.

I couldn't just break contain immediately or I was usually sacked. It is a little easier to get outside of the pocket, but there are ways to counteract that.

To be clear, I'm not saying guys run wide open on deep balls, just that it levels the playing field a bit. Using previous sliders, it felt like the DB had a sharp advantage in 1v1 unless the WR had a step and the QB had the accuracy and strength to hit him in stride. In particular, safeties that covered a region didn't warp in front of the pass all day long, it was more of a jump ball situation.

I was able to get some pressure. I think you described it best that you can see the pressure coming, there is less of the DL running past the OL without ever being tracked or engaged by the blocker.

I'm always apprehensive whenever we talk about messing with the sliders, especially when it's to make games "more realistic." I remember we did this in Piney's league in 09 and it took all the fun away.
We can always not change them. Or change them back if we don't like.

Just got done with another game. Overall the sliders are pretty good, but the QB containment is very weak (even when you set it up manually) and the DBs turn away from slant routes every so often. I think they have potential, but they aren't there yet. I'd hold off for now. I'll let you guys know after we've tweaked and tested them a bit more.

The difference between then and now was the difference between the team ratings in the league. A lot of us started out with teams that were rated 77 or 79 overall. You guys that started out with teams in the 60's were fucked. Also, 'mania missing out on about a season and a half (at least) of recruiting killed him. The Super Conference has 7 teams that are all evenly rated and highly rated. A decent set of sliders should work a lot better for a league like that. For Piney's league this year...probably not. It would probably be impossible to find a set of sliders that would make it challenging for the top teams, and still keep it fun and non-infuriating for the lower rated teams.
