NCAA Football 10 (PS3) BP Super Conference

Now for the other items for debate:

1. Ice the Kicker - Yep, get rid of it.

2. Turning off homefield advantage - Don't care, I haven't really been affected by it nor so I care alot about it either way. So will go with the group whatever they decide.

3. Weekly Advance - No problem with that either as I am busier this year compared to last year and don't mind a slower pace.

4. Varsity sliders - Sure, since this dynasty is more about human v human games than the 4-5 cpu games we have. If you can find a good set of sliders that helps with human games... I am all for it.

5. Adding 9th team - Not sure about this. While it is a good idea on how to expand the league. Who in their right mind would take Notre Dame :wink2:

Was going to agree with Iron. I like the no cuts. Tressel knows he only has X amount of spots, so he has to make tough decisions in who he recruits. In addition I think EA has rendered the limit of 70 man rosters mute because there are NO busts. So every guy you recruit is going to be good and or get better with no regression.

Like I said... was going to agree with you 100%, then I read this...

I actually like this idea more. The only issue I would have with no cuts would be what if you signed 1 or 2 more than you should? Or you only need 1 RB, so you target 2-3 because there is stiff competition for him but you somehow beat the odds and land all 2 or 3 the same weekend?

This solves my only concern. Gives guys just a little wiggle room but doesn't allow you to totally overhaul the roster.

And this is from a guy who picked a team with only 13-16 seniors and planned on oversigning and then cutting any deadweight from the team.
Yeah, I only have 13 seniors, and I don't think that any of my juniors have had good enough years to leave. So I don't actually have any personal advantage with doing this, but just think that it adds another bit of strategy to the game.

I think that this will make recruiting as strategic as the rest of the game as opposed to now, just offer and sign 25 then cut the bottom. I'm good here.

The rest; would love to advance more often but if the rest of the group dictates otherwise. Turn homefield advantage off.

I'm for Ice the kicker. It makes the outcome less automatic

I hate homefield advantage. It is rediculous for human vs. human games

I have very little time this year as well. Hate to see it slow down but it will help my marriage :tongue2:

Why not. I only worry about the exploits that this might expose

Sounds good

Also, everyone that disagrees with me is a poop head...It wouldn't be a "discussion" without some good old-fashioned name calling, and since no one else sank to that level, I thought that it was necessary to get that in too.

oh yea, well you're a doodoo face!

if we do this it wouldnt start until next year though right?

seems kind of shitty to change the rules at the end of the season when everyone has already been recruiting all year

I'm never again going to worry about finding an exploit free set of sliders, because they don't exist. There will always be ways to manipulate the AI, no matter how ridiculous the sliders are. What I really want is smoother gameplay. Hopefully I/we can find a set of sliders that will cause players to play up to, or down to, their actual skill level, rather than every player having the ability to be both idiots and supermen, all on the same play.

The rule would not go into effect fully until next pre-season. However, users would not be allowed to do a player dump this off-season in order to circumvent the system either. I'll be able to see how many players each team has as soon as we advance to cuts. If a team has 78 players, then this year only, they would be allowed to cut exactly 8 players...they cannot go below 70 in an attempt to dump more "deadweight". If a player has 68 players on their team during cuts, then they would not be allowed to cut anyone.

The weekly advance is a "for now" type of thing. It will likely only be for season two because of football season. Last year, both dynasties really kicked into high gear after football season was over. With the addtion of the Madden Franshise we may decide to keep this on just a weekly advance, but that will be decided at a later date.

There's a pretty important reason why not allowing cuts and limiting scholarship offers won't work. The reason is the late interest recruits will show after the season is over. Unlike previous years, you'll get new recruits added to your interest board. If I've set my board up the entire year and all of a sudden I'm hit with higher rated recruits of positions already filled, well, I want to recruit them. Limiting scollies and disallowing cuts basically takes away a new feature of the game.

I think it makes recruiting more realistic and competitive. I can't even sign a 5 star recruit. Yet some of you have 10+, simply because you had a higher rated team to start. In the future, you will not be able to offer 30 4/5 star recruits. Leaving a few more to the the rest of us/

There's also a position change feature that we're limiting. An Ice the kicker feature that we're eliminating, and a homefield advantage feature that we'll attempt to eliminate, or at least tone down.

The offseason recruiting will not be eliminated, but it will cause everyone to take a harder look at their in-season recruiting. If you know that you only have 15 scholarships, and you know that you're going to have a half-dozen top-rated recruits interested in your program in the offseason, and you'll probably be able to land 2-3 of them, then you hold back a few scholarships for the offseason. Can't fill those scholarships? Then they carry over to the next season. Most of us have 68 players on our current teams. We also have between 13 and 18 seniors on our teams. Depending on how each player handled redshirts, that gives us 14-20 scholarships this offseason. Add in the compromise to make a couple of cuts, and, depending on individual rosters, players can sign 16-22 players this season. I actually have the lowest available since I have 69 players minus 13 seniors for an available 14 scholarships. Depending on how you handled redshirts, LSU actually has the most available schollies at 68 players minus 18 seniors, giving you 20 available schollies, with a couple of cuts available too. Giving you 22 possible scholarships this season.

Team; #of players; # of seniors; # of needs; # of schollies available (assuming no seniors were redshirted)

Florida; 68; 14; 1; 16+2
Georgia; 68; 13; 4; 15+2
LSU; 68; 18; 0; 20+2
Miami; 68; 16; 5; 18+2
Ohio State; 69; 13; 2; 14+2
Oklahoma; 68; 16; 3; 18+2
Texas; 68; 13; 4; 15+2
USC; 68; 18; 5; 20+2

So, depending on how redshirts were handled, USC and LSU have the most schollies to offer. Ohio State has the least.

Just to be a smart ass.... Afterall, I am a SEC Team

What about oversigning? Down here in the south we are use to having recruiting classes in the 30s cuz we KNOW 10 of them won't be able to qualify... So what if I sign a full 25 person class then proceed to cut 10 of those freshman for the reality of them not qualifying academically :sneaky:

It's funny that you should mention that, because this post...

...would carry that exact stipulation for the first offseason. Since everyone already has their classes setup for this season, and some have not signed all of their "need" positions. Everyone can sign the max or some agreed upon number of recruits, for this season only, but all cuts must be made to true freshman, or incoming JUCOs...i.e. new recruits are the only ones that can be cut this season.

After this season, it would go to being able to make 2 or 3 cuts (whatever number we decide on), but those cuts would also be only incoming recruits. No players that made the team as freshman can be cut later in their careers.
