I found recruiting on the default setting to be fairly challenging. You?

I upped it to All American, and it was a bitch. I actually restarted my dynasty, and one of the reasons was my terrible recruiting (the other is I wanted updated rosters). I am doing better in my second dynasty, but there is no way I will be able to get the super classes I used to get in the older games.

Some advice....

- Spend 60 minutes each week on any high level recruit where OSU interest is near other teams (this of course reduces how many 4* and 5* players you can recruit).

- Only offer about 15 scholarships to start out with. Eventually guys will commit, and then you can start adding lower level recruits. It's easier to play catchup with them, especially if they are replacing a high level recruit that was eating up 60 minutes a week.

- Do not negative recruit with pipeline players (you do not get a bonus for pipeline) unless you have a huge advantage. With high level recruits it's normally small advantages.

- Speaking of pipeline, stick to players in your pipeline as much as possible. Those extra points are huge for saving time or getting an advantage over other teams. If OSU is 3rd or so for a guy in the pipeline, but has USC, Oregon, etc at the top, that recruit will be easier to get than a guy who has OSU #1 but is neck and neck with Michigan, PSU, or Notre Dame.

- Get them on campus in the 1st half of the year. I made the mistake of thinking I could wait. Bad idea. All but 2 of my recruits in my first dynasty (out of 21 offered) verballed to other teams, and much of that due to the fact they got early visits. This is not 100% true, but once interest hits the green area you better have him setup to be on campus soon.

I am still working on what works best, but getting top level players eats up a ton of minutes. There is really no way around it. So super classes stacked with all 4* and 5* players is a thing of the past. In the end, that is a good thing.

as long as there are plenty of diamond in the rough three star guys that are still pretty good that is fine

I can remember a few years ago I was able to consistently identify 3 star lineman that were just as good as the five stars, I am assuming it is the same deal here

...is my 360 gamertag to download the roster.

FINALLY finished my big ten edits to the rosters. Enjoy! I didn't do nebraska yet, I'll do those later, but those aren't as crucial.

I'm not sure if you explained it in a previous post, but what roster edit's did you do? Any rating changes?

Osu changes:
- every hometown
- every equipment set (helmet, facemask, arm bands)
- bumped fragel, adams, barnett up a lil... Lowered rating for dilillo, miller, domicone
- added norwell, moore, baldwin. Wr corey brown already added.
- I kept the num change of 9 torrence, 10 brown. Torrence is now num 1 in real lifem but boom has that.

- An alternate way I didnt use: someone on scout swapped hall and louis to give hall seven, gave torrence 1, boom 22 his hs num, and louis 9.

I changed 3-10 players for most big ten teams plus nd, some swaps, some re-rates... to make the rosters more accurate.

I set it to Heisman in the Bad Team Dynasty, but that dynasty had other issues and needed to be taken down. Maybe I should back it down to AA this time around.
have you guys done a whole season on those settings with a bad team? I found it pretty chsllenging with a good one. Do not let the quick verbals fool you. If you dont have a rivalry game or big recruiting week early in the year, it is really challenging. No more b+ / a- visits for mediocre conf opponents. It is hard to close, even after leading big all along.

I think they also dialed down the three star superstar gems you could find as well.

Started out 6-1.

6-3 now and I'm pissed beyond belief. First loss was playing as OU. Moving the ball up and down the field with ease - I won't lie, I'm much more comfortable with their offense then I am with Ohio State's - the passing game just feels much more natural to me plus I love their passing options both under center and shotgun. Anyway, said player is using Oregon State, converts two throws in 3rd's that should'nt have happened.

The first completion was on 3rd & 8... he was dropping back, nearly off his back foot, tossed one up to the TE just over Rolle's head and breaks the tackle for 43 yards. Next play, pitch left to Quizz for a TD.

14-7 13seconds before halftime I'm leading. He's at midfield, short cheap completion that's fine, I dont mind going up by 4 into the half. Calls hurry up and gets to the line, I call prevent. He somehow finds a reciever in the middle of the field, the LB misses the pick, WR comes down with it then trucks the safety (btw, big hit was on conservative) and walks in. 14-14 half. I make a few stops, he gets a lucky ass interception off his SS and I'm down 28-21 with 2:01 to go. I get down and tie it up with 39 seconds left. He calls 4 verts and somehow his Y reciever comes down with the goddamn ball in triple coverage - kicks a FG I lose 31-28. Needless to say I'm fucking pissed.

Next was against Wisconsin, and before I start let me say: EA seriously fucked up making John Clay that fast. The man has very little lateral agility and for damn certain isn't going to be outrunning Chekwa. However those toss plays are too high percentage now and EVERYBODY is using them.

Anyway, long story short on this one. I'm down 17-21 with 11 seconds left and no timeouts. On the 4 yardline, I call a pitch right because 9 guys are stacked in the middle. Somehow his LOLB of all defenders brings me down. I go to a hurry up and call a quick pass. I audible my weak side TE to a streak.

Get him in the endzone right in front of the linebacker and I gun it too him....catches it!! I'm going crazy... NO WAIT, dropped... no time left. FML.

based on what I am hearing about recruiting I started over and targeted guys that had me in their top 5 initially rather than trying to grab mostly 5 star players that I was further down the list on

based on the ratings, the players I am targeting should be just as good (I am pretty sure), in particular I am recruiting a 3 star QB from Ohio that appears to have ratings that are just as good as the 5 stars... we will see how this goes

disclaimer, I am using Ohio State which makes recruiting a helluva lot easier

I had a tough game against OU playing as AFA.....OU gets the ball first, and I force a fumble around the 50, I go down and end up shanking the FG.....they end up scoring very easily, then I fumble the kickoff, and they score again......I hold them but the pin me down at the 2, tried a option and my QB lost the ball and recovered in the endzone, so before I knew it, I was down 16-0..end up keeping that way til Halftime...

So to begin the qtr I change a little bit and go almost strictly shotgun the whole first drive, forgot to add, I'm playing without my starting QB. I end up driving down quickily and scoring a TD making it 16-7. We go back in forth for a bit punting the ball, and I end up scoring another TD at the start of the 4th to make it 16-14. I couldn't believe I actually had a shot at winning this.

So I believe I forced another turnover and am driving down the the 50, pass it out to my FB who then fumbles the ball..fuck....I then intercept a ball in the endzone, so I have another chance to take the lead...I throw another pick and they return it for a TD :(, down 23-14 with about 1:30 left...I drive down and end up kicking a FG with about :30 left and no timeouts, and didn't get the onside kick..

I lose 23-17 :(
