Western Conference
Team GB
1. * San Antonio --
2. * LA Lakers 0.5
3. New Orleans 2.0
4. * Utah 4.0
5. Houston 2.5
6. Phoenix 3.5
7. Dallas 5.0
8. Golden State 6.0
9. Denver 7.0

LA goes 9-1 in their last 10, and lose a game to the Spurs. Houston has won 17 in a row and still is 4th in the league. Phoenix as close to being out of the playoffs as they are to #1.

It's a fantastic race. It's gotten to the point where I will watch ANY Western Conference game on TV... if I can stay awake.

I'm going to be pissed come playoff time when I won't be able to see half of the Western Conference games.

u guys arent kidding. One of the closest races for the playoffs that I can remember. It will be interesting to see if the lakers can get bynum and ariza back for the playoffs. IMHO if they get those guys back (and they can contribute) they will win the west. The spurs however remain the team to beat.

Go Lakers

Assuming Devner passes Golden State:

San Antonio- Denver
LA - Dallas
New Orleans-Phoenix
Utah- Houston

Those are 4 great matchups. Hopefully the NBA fixed that dumbass scheduling problem they heve where game 1 is on Sunday and then game 2 isn't until the follwing Friday/Saturday. That blows.

Iverson's 29 help send Spurs to first loss in 11 games

DENVER (AP) -- These Denver Nuggets are starting to show they could much more than the first-round fodder they always are in the playoffs.

Now, if they can just make it that far.

Allen Iverson scored 29 points despite spraining his right ring finger in the first half and the Nuggets ended San Antonio's 11-game winning streak, 109-96, on Friday night.

Kobe, Fisher help Lakers hit 61 percent of 3s against lowly Clips

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Lakers didn't have to cross the line. They were doing just fine behind it.

Derek Fisher scored 17 points, Kobe Bryant had 16 and the Lakers went on a 3-point shooting spree in the second half of a 119-82 rout of the Clippers on Friday night.

"I think what we did is that we stepped up our pressure," Bryant said. "Try to make them play at our pace, or execute things that they are not used to doing, and our shooters knocked down some big shots to blow the game open."

Boozer scores 17 in 2nd half, sends Suns to 3rd straight home loss

PHOENIX (AP) -- The Utah Jazz went on a scoring binge against Phoenix on Friday night. Everybody's doing that against the struggling Suns these days.

Carlos Boozer scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half, including a tough 8-foot bank shot with 31.1 seconds to play, and the Jazz handed the Suns their third consecutive home loss, 126-118.

Phoenix fell to 3-6 since Shaquille O'Neal joined the lineup.

Paul dazzles, dishes 16 assists as Hornets halt Nets

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Hornets rookie Julian Wright sat in front of his locker with a bag of ice wrapped around his right wrist, which was sore for all the right reasons.

"That's from dunking," Wright said, a reference to three alley-oop jams.

Wright had career highs of 20 points and eight rebounds in about 30 minutes as a reserve Friday night, helping the Hornets win their third straight game, 107-96 over the New Jersey Nets.

Dirk's injury may have sealed the fate of the Mavericks in this year's playoff race. I could see the Mavs finishing 9th (obviously not a stretch), with Golden State and Denver moving up to 7th and 8th.

Golden State has got to be the most dangerous 7/8 seed in the history of the game. They are like chaos on the court, with the potential to put up 130 points on any given night.

Current standings:

Western Conference

1. New Orleans --
2. LA Lakers --
3. Phoenix 0.5
4. Utah 2.5
5. Hooston 1.0
6. San Antonio 1.0
7. Dallas 4.0
8. Golden State 4.5
9. Denver 5.5

Not a NBA guy... would that put them in the low %'s of the lottery?

Yes, all the teams that don't make the playoffs are in the lottery, and of those, the team with the most wins has the lowest percentage to win (0.5% chance to win). I think the lottery is only for the first 3 picks, and then it goes in order, by record, for picks 4 through 14.

Last year, Portland had a pretty low chance of winning the lottery, and none of the 3 worst teams got picked in the first 3 slots.

I thought all teams had a chance to win the lottery, just don't have as many balls...Like Seattle last year had like the 7th worst record and got the second pick...

Dallas sealed their fate when they pulled the trigger on the JKidd trade IMO...
