is it just me or did the nuggets get screwed by trading jarret jack for some 2 other guys?

not to mention they drafted 3 forwards, when they already had Carmelo, Kenyon Martin, and Nene, and needed another guard (specifically SG) and could have kept Jack, or instead drafted Garcia from Louisville????

So if the Cavs hadn't made that dumbass Welsch trade they would have been able to get Sean May like the Bobcats did with their pick. He probably could have been the PF that they need. Instead the Cavs traded Welsch for a 2nd round pick next year, which they traded for a 2nd round Big Z jr this year. Unfortunately that guy will be in the NBADL for the next 2 years.

First off the Cavs would have been stupid for taking Sean May. And yes Paxton was a stupid moron and the reason he is no longer here.

Also would like to say love the 2 moves that Ferry has made to start the offseason off. First move trade Jiri for a bag of basketballs (ie 2nd round pick) and then move our original 2nd round pick in 2006 for Orlando's 44th pick this year to get the rights of.... Little Z!!! Ok, ok... his name is Martynas Andriuskevicius. 7-2 Center from Lithuiania. Some had him going as high as #7! A top 10 talent at #44!!!

His downside? he is 7"2' and only weighs 240 lbs. But he is 19 and has been trained by Arvydis Sabonis for the past two years.

$28 million and counting in salary cap room for free agents!!!

You gotta like the moves he made yesterday ... getting rid of pax's mistake and getting a project center. This at least gives the cavs hope that they have someone on the horizon to play in the low post in a few years if Z bolts in FA.

On the other hand, bringing this lithuanian center in couldn't possibly hurt trying to bring Z back. Now Z can finish up his career mentoring a promising young countryman while he provides some continuity in the post game.

This sure beats the hell out of the normal cavs draft though.

The Buckeyes should be well represented in the NBA Draft tonight:

A major career milestone for Malaki Branham and E.J. Liddell is set to transpire in a mere matter of hours.

Both Buckeye stars are on the verge of being drafted to the NBA, a lifelong goal for each amid their respective basketball journeys, and the highest level of the sport awaits thereafter. Although both are widely pegged as first-round selections on Thursday, just for both to be drafted at all would mark a historic night for the Ohio State basketball program. Not since 2007, when Greg Oden (No. 1 overall), Mike Conley (No. 4) and Daequan Cook (No. 22) were all drafted in the first round, have multiple Buckeyes been taken in the NBA draft.

Whichever Buckeye is taken first on Thursday will be the first Ohio State player drafted in four years since Big Ten Player of the Year Keita Bates-Diop was selected with the 48th overall pick in the second round in 2018. Should Branham, Liddell or both be taken in the first round, they’d be the first Buckeyes to earn that status since D’Angelo Russell was taken No. 2 overall in 2015. Branham will also be the first player since Russell to be drafted after just one year at Ohio State.

For Chris Holtmann in particular, Branham and Liddell will be the first-ever NBA draftees that he both recruited out of high school and developed in college. Bates-Diop was drafted to the NBA following Holtmann’s first season with the Buckeyes, but the Illinois native spent three previous years with the program under the tutelage of Thad Matta, who recruited him out of high school. If drafted in the opening round, Branham and Liddell will become the first two first-round NBA draft picks that Holtmann has produced as a head coach.

In looking at various mock drafts, appears Cavs should be able to get another helpful piece.. usually the same 3 names always pop up...including Branham, big kid from Duke and SG from Santa Clara

Ohio State's Chris Holtmann gives his NBA comparisons for Malaki Branham, EJ Liddell

For Branham, who averaged 13.7 points on 49.8 percent shooting and 3.6 rebounds and two assists during his lone season at Ohio State, Holtmann pointed to the Milwaukee Bucks' Khris Middleton as his comp.

“Malaki, Middleton from Milwaukee’s a guy that I’ve kind of always looked at and said, ‘I can see (a comparison),’” Holtmann said. “He’s a little bit longer and bigger than Malaki, but Malaki’s length and elite shotmaking – and Middleton’s turned into a heck of a player, I mean a phenomenal player – so I’ve seen that comparable and I’ve talked to some NBA teams about that comparable with Malaki.”

Middleton was a second-round pick (39th overall) out of Texas A&M in the 2012 NBA Draft, but has put together a productive NBA career. He began his career with the Detroit Pistons before he was traded to the Bucks and has averaged 17.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 10 NBA seasons. Middleton is a three-time NBA All-Star and helped Milwaukee win the 2021 NBA title.

In talking about Liddell, who finished his college career averaging 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, Holtmann brought up the Boston Celtics' Grant Williams.

“A lot of the NBA teams, whether it’s general managers or scouts that have called us, have brought the Grant Williams comparison to EJ," Holtmann said. "Grant Williams came out of Tennessee, similar build, similar body type. Different games; EJ’s a more polished offensive player, Grant at this stage was a better mover, EJ’s a better shot blocker. I think EJ’s got better touch. Grant is a terrific athlete, maybe has a little bit of an edge there. Both guys are gonna be very good, productive, long pros. I think what they both have in common is they’re phenomenal people. So I’ve watched that one.”

Watching the draft, damn I never realized Silver's ears were that large......

The Los Angeles Lakers have traded into Thursday night's NBA draft, acquiring the Orlando Magic's No. 35 for a future second-round pick and cash.

In another move, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired the No. 49 pick from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for the rights to Sasha Vezenkov, it was announced.

In other news, 2 Ohio State guys are about to become multi millionaires tonight......8D
