NBA, NBPA Expected to Eliminate ‘One-and-Done’ Rule in Next CBA

The NBA and NBPA are working to abolish the league’s long-standing one-and-done rule.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports both sides are expected to agree on lowering the draft eligibility age from 19 to 18 as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. This would allow players to enter the NBA straight out of high school. The change could come as soon as the 2024 NBA draft.

“The NBA set the draft age limit at 19 years old in 2005. Silver said in July that he was ‘hopeful’ for the rule changing in the next CBA cycle, and both sides appear motivated to reduce the age eligibility for the draft,” Charania wrote.

Just sayin':

1) Even with the "one and done" too many players are forfeiting their college opportunity for their NBA dream and not making the NBA; then left with nothing.

2) The NCAA need a rule where a player can declare for the draft and if the player isn't drafted or doesn't like his draft position (and as long as the players doesn't sign a professional contract and meets college academic eligibility requirements) can still be eligible to play in college.

So, it would appear trading Kyrie Irving was one of the best moves the Cavs ever made, even if it hurt the product on the court. That guy is a sideshow disaster and is getting nuttier every year.
Kyrie was given every opportunity by his team to just “shut up and play” (hey—remember when we were in favor of franchise owners telling their players that?); and he’d be fine. And he couldn’t. I have no more sympathy for him following his suspension than I would’ve had if the same fate had befallen any of the dozens of sports simpletons who said “fuck the police.”

Jared Jeffries, former Indiana basketball star and NBA player, wins car on 'The Price is Right'

It's not clear if Jeffries, at 6-foot-11, can fit in his new vehicle

Jared Jeffries spent 11 seasons in the NBA after being a national runner-up with Indiana basketball in 2002, but it seems he is not done chasing victories. On an episode of "The Price is Right" that aired on Monday morning, Jeffries won a brand new car.

The 6-foot-11 former athlete stood next to his new vehicle, which seemed significantly smaller than him, while the audience gave him a standing ovation. For game purposes, the car was valued at $22,376.
