NBA Discussion (Official Thread)

I remember the 92-93 Pittsburgh Penguins had the best record in franchise history (still do), and ended the season on a record-long winning streak. Most fans I knew were giddy about the winning streak down the stretch, and scoffed at me for suggesting I'd rather they lose a game and rest guys down the stretch. The Pens got the consecutive wins record (I think it may have been broken since), and people acted like they'd won the Cup.

I recall saying it won't mean a thing if they don't win the title. Again, scoffed at because it was a foregone conclusion they'd win it all...until they lost to the Islanders in 7 games. Golden State fans (mostly kids who just discovered them 2 years ago) are one loss away from knowing that feeling. Those 73 wins mean jack now.

OKC played them tough, and were up by two in the mid/late third quarter, but Westbrook turned into a turnover machine and OKC got a bit clumsy and cold shooting wise down the stretch. Still, they hung tough and after falling behind be 14 they came back to cut it to five about midway through the fourth quarter, but GS pulled away. After the way they manhandled GS in games 3 and 4, I think OKC wins game 6 at their place...

Golden state wasn't going to lose that game. The refs made that clear when the foul ratio was 7-0 in the warriors favor midway through the first quarter.

Just when it looked like OKC had grown up they revert to the silly play that ultimately got Brooks fired. They have one shot left at redemption, but it's going to take a MUCH better effort than they put forth tonight. It doesn't seem likely.

Does anyone really think the league is going to allow OKC to prevent a finals rematch now? But the funny thing is, the league doesn't have to do anything, OKC will choke on their own and save them the trouble.
