Navy 48 - Pitt 45 (Final, 2OT)

The 'Stache had one-upped Coach Fran at least ten years ago while he was destroying a proud Bears franchise. It took Chicago nearly a decade to recover. Inexplicably, after wrecking one NFL franchise, he was given the keys to another, and proceeds to do the exact same damn thing. Exit stage right.

So Wannstedt lands at the alma mater, Pittsburgh, and what's the first sign of his coaching? Tyler Palko, who looked primed for a breakout season after two years with Walt Harris, regresses right from Game 1. Does this sound familiar to Bears or Dolphins fans? The 'Stache inherited Palko, Greg Lee, and the rest of a squad that had just played in a BCS bowl, and they actually went to Ohio U and lost! Were they beat soundly by Solich? No. They lost to Ohio U after Palko threw two pick-6s to OU's Dion Byrum because -- and Wannstedt admitted it later -- the coaches didn't realize that certain formations and plays wouldn't work due to the wider college hashmarks.

And this guy is a coach?

The Pitt AD is probably searching desperately for evidence of Wannstedt's $1200/yr. super secret newsletter RIGHT NOW.

I LOVE watching Navy football.

Those guys aren't going to the NFL, practice comes #2 to school and duty...

And straight wishbone for 60 minutes? Awesome. Glad to see them win.

Oneshot,

since you love Navy football, I got a question for you:

Is THIS the year that they FINALLY beat Notre Dame?

They haven't beat them since 1963- I believe they had a strapping young man behind center- Roger Staubach.

Seriously, will this be their year?

After seeing them against Pitt, I can say, with confidence, yes, they will beat Notre Dame this year,

I agree. Navy gets it done this year against the Irish. And the SAVIOR of Notre Dame football becomes the first at Notre Dame to lose to Navy since the Kennedy administration. Such blissful irony.

You may choose for yourself whether I'm referring to the coach or the quarterback.

Wanny is the worst coach in the history of modern football. Pop Warner's ashes could beat him 2 out of 3. And Alonzo Stagg's tombstone could beat him 3 out of 4. The guy knows less about football than that dumb blonde sorority girl you get tickets for and put up with cheering for no one in particular during a timeout on 4th and goal from the 2 because you think you'll get laid.
