N.O. mayor rips Saints owner

Slander is a lie... He is a blow hard and incompetant but did not lie. Your comments are obviously politically motivated Mililani.

First of all, I said "Bordering on slander"...get thicker reading glasses. And just how are my comments "politically motivated"? I couldn't care less who's the mayor of Nawlins, just as long as they're somewhat competent, don't leave their constituents behind in a hurricane, and spend too much time doing things other that what they should be doing. Run out of Geritol this morning?

The people here in San Antonio, are all hyped up about the Saints! They want more football games. But, the Saints would need to put a better product on the field. Aaron Brooks, would not put fannies in the stands. They need more star power.

At the rate the Saints are going (and figure to go - tougher portions of the schedule coming up), they could easily find themselves in position to take one of the top QBs coming into the draft.

I would think Vince Young would put asses in the seats if they were in San Antonio. Maybe they could use their second round pick on Santonio Holmes so that his name will forever get screwed up. :p

Maybe because he's a junior and they aren't expecting him to come out?

Young's a junior, too, and IIRC he's been pretty vocal about staying for his senior year.

At least www.nfldraftcountdown.com has a nice banner:

He also has Hawk as #1 and Carpenter as #5 OLBs and Schlegel as #7 ILB...

To interject here.

Benson and the state have been going at it for years. He has threatened to move them to San Antonio before and the previous governor caved. The state owes the Saints big money each year. Most of the state outside of NOLA does not give flying frick about the Saints.

Benson wanted a new stadium with all the luxury boxes; does that sound familiar. Benson is also ready to turn over operations to his grand daughter I believe. He will own them still but she will have ultimate authority.

Tourism was the Big Easy's draw. The Superdome has hosted quite a few Superbowls and I believe they have to have a pro team or it is preferred so they can host it again. To lose the Saints and the Superbowl would hurt NOLA financially and in reputation.

As for San Antonio, I love the city but I can't imagine it is big enough to support a pro team. Look at some of the other small markets that are struggling. TV revenue is the golden goose of course.

I do not care about Pro football and I do not want any of my tax dollars to go to financing a bunch or millionaires. The money could be used for better things, especially here.

I know I am a contrary SOB but I do not care if my city has a pro basketball, football or baseball team. I live in LA. and I am a tOSU fan. I would rather watch a Division III game on Tuesday than the NFL on any other day.:)

There is a good chance, but with his pass rushing ability, I say hes a late 1st rounder.
I would looooooooove to see the Browns get him though...

Unfortunately the Browns would really have to tank the rest of the season to have a shot at either of them. Hawk too high in the first and Carp to low in the first. Of course if you told me that they would get Frye in the 3rd round last year I would have laughed at you. They really could use a good left tackle, but I think defense is more important right now.

Do you realize San Antonio is the 9th largest city in the United States (would be the 8th largest to have an NFL team) and is 2.36 times larger than New Orleans?

Even if you look at the entire metropolitan area, San Antonio ranks 29th in the United States (would be the 24th largest to have an NFL team). New Orleans ranks 34th and is the 25th largest to have an NFL team.

So he bordered on lying??? my avatar is Jimmy Crumb not me I dont need Geritol yet. Thank you though. By politically motivated I mean I bet you dont make comments when the President talks about steroids in baseball during his state of the union address like, doesnt he have other shit to worry about like the war.
