This team is comprised of only Ohio State players that have played for Jim Tressel (as a head coach). First listed at the position is the starter and second is the 2nd string. This is the depth chart I would employ if I had all the players under Tressel available to me at the same time and I was the coach.
QB- Troy Smith, Craig Krenzel
TB- Antonio Pittman, Jonathan Wells
FB- Jamar Martin, Branden Joe
WR- Michael Jenkins, Ted Ginn Jr.
WR- Santonio Holmes, Anthony Gonzalez
TE- Ben Hartsock, Darnell Sanders
OT- Shane Olivea, Kirk Barton
OT- Rob Sims, Tyson Walter
OG- LeCharles Bentley, Adrien Clarke
OG- Alex Stepanovich, T.J. Downing
OC- Nick Mangold, LeCharles Bentley
DE- Will Smith, Mike Kudla
DE- Darion Scott, Simon Fraser
DT- Tim Anderson, Quinn Pitcock
DT- Kenny Peterson, Mike Collins
OLB- A.J. Hawk, Cie Grant
OLB- Bobby Carpenter, Joe Cooper
MLB- Matt Wilhelm, Anthony Schlegel
CB- Chris Gamble, Ashton Youboty
CB- Dustin Fox, Derek Ross
SS- Mike Doss, Donte Whitner
FS- Will Allen, Nate Salley
K- Mike Nugent, Josh Huston
P- B.J. Sander, Andy Groom
KR- Ted Ginn Jr, Santonio Holmes
PR- Santonio Holmes, Ted Ginn Jr
So what do you think of the list? I know I omitted Clarett and most of you would put him probably at the top... for me though, his risk of injury drops him (okay, and I admit, I am still bitter about him and I hate his attitude). Other tough decisions were at QB where I flip flopped a lot between Smith and Krenzel. I also struggled a bit to decide at OLB... there are more talented OLB's to back up Carpenter, like Marcus Freeman, but Joe Cooper was at one time our best LB and has produced more on the field to this point. Safety was also just flat out hard to pick the order. I also don't feel good about leaving Donnie Nickey off who was better than most ever gave him credit for. Looking at corner, it amazes me that the top guys are a converted WR and a converted Safety... go figure!
