For those too young to remember, the original TV remote controls use to actually just "click" (manual, not batteries) to change the channels (i.e. one by one) or turn the TV on/off. My first one looked exactly like this:

My dog had a lose fitting chain collar (with ID info tags) and when she shook it, it would change the TV channel too.

When I was about 12 or 13, a friend figured out how to hack the QUBE box to get P-10, the porn channel, for free. All went well until, due to the hacking messing up the box, his Mom tried to watch Cagney and Lacey and got porn.

My parents came to my apartment to watch a Buckeye game televised only on Qube. I was explaining the controls to my mother, starting with normal television channels (T1-T10), Qube channels (C1-C10, I think), and the premium movie and other channels (P1-P10). As I explained how it worked, I was holding the console and looking back over my shoulder, when I noticed my father had a strange look on his face. He'd had a mild heart attack the year before and I thought he might be having another. He lifted his hand to point to the TV about the same time I saw that I had accidentally switched onto P10. I scrambled wildly and switched the channel before my Mom saw it. Dad had never seen porn before and he was greatly shocked. Several times, he repeated, "Did you see what those women were doing? Did you see that? With each other!!?" I still remember how hard it was to control my laughter.
