Nothing against Monk - I grew up a Redskin fan and always loved the guy - but if you want to talk about underrated/underappreciated receivers, Sharpe tops the list.

Different eras, way different criteria, but I agree completely, Sterling was a very good WR, and no one even remembers Shannon had a brother anymore...or is it cousin? Crap, I can't remember, but you know what I mean.

Please. I agree in principle, of course, but he not only caught for 1,000+ yards 5 times and caught at least 70 balls 6 times (the stats), but he also made 3 straight Pro Bowls, won 3 Super Bowls (his teams were in 4), and was the NFL career leader in receptions when he retired. If Lynn Swann and Tommy McDonald are in the HOF, then Monk definitely belongs in.

Receiving yards: 1984-4, 1985-3, 1989-10
Receiving TDs: 1991-9t

Only 3 years in the top 10 in yards? NOT A HOF.
Chad Johnson has equalled that already.

I agree that Swannie should not be there either. But just because somebody gets in because they don't deserve it, doesn't mean others should as well.

Based on your logic, about 20 more QBs should be in the HOF just because Joe Namath did with his crappy stats.

At least Swannie averaged more than 15 yards a catch. Monk didn't even do that.
