Most Underrated NFL Player Of All Time

Seasons among the league's top 10
Receptions: 1984-1, 1985-2, 1988-9t, 1989-3t
Receiving yards: 1984-4, 1985-3, 1989-10
Receiving TDs: 1991-9t

Only 3 years in the top 10 in yards? NOT A HOF.
Chad Johnson has equalled that already.

I agree that Swannie should not be there either. But just because somebody gets in because they don't deserve it, doesn't mean others should as well.

Based on your logic, about 20 more QBs should be in the HOF just because Joe Namath did with his crappy stats.

At least Swannie averaged more than 15 yards a catch. Monk didn't even do that.

Actually, I think there's way too many QBs as it is. I'd personally like to see several more offensive and defensive linemen over the next several years. And I see you've discounted Monk's stats and then used Swan's YPC

Just messin' tibs, but I really think that the guy who passed Largent for all-time receptions (before Rice, of course) should be right in there...especially if Swann and Lofton are in.

Good call on Tuggle Jag, and I like the CURT Warner pick too. I'd probably toss in William Andrews and Gerald Riggs as well...they were pretty good players.

Offense:

Henry Ellard: 814 catches, 13777 yards, 16.9 YPC, 65 TDs

Defense:

Jesse Tuggle:

2065!! career tackles, 12 seasons of 100+ tackles, 5 Pro Bowls, 5 fumble returns for TDs.
Read my mind with Jesse Tuggle he was a stud LB. Curtis Martin is another definite. Bryant Young from the 49ers. The guys that said Steve Largent and Monk are dead on also

Dan Hampton.

Dent got the sacks, and McMichael got a lot of publicity because of the Mongo act, but Hampton was the best player on that D line.

That's a great call...he didn't even cross my mind. I remember Jim Kelly hyping him for Hall induction during his speech. I'm not sure if a special teamer deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, but if one does go in, he's gotta be it.

Hey, he'd make a catch every now and then too!:tongue2: I remember watching a preseason game during their Super Bowl days where Tasker converted 3 onside-kicks in a row! That guy was pure hustle...
