Most successful classes against Michigan

Looking through our all-time record against Michigan, I noted many classes that were very successful against Michigan. I decided to rank them in order of their total record against the Puke and Blew. Classes are considered to be the normal four-year timeframe, even during when freshmen could not actually play:

Class of 1937: 4-0
Class of 1963: 4-0
Class of 1975: 3-0-1
Class of 1921: 3-1
Class of 1922: 3-1
Class of 1930: 3-1
Class of 1936: 3-1
Class of 1938: 3-1
Class of 1955: 3-1
Class of 1957: 3-1
Class of 1958: 3-1
Class of 1960: 3-1
Class of 1961: 3-1
Class of 1962: 3-1
Class of 1964: 3-1
Class of 1965: 3-1
Class of 1968: 3-1
Class of 1970: 3-1
Class of 1982: 3-1
Class of 1984: 3-1
Class of 2004: 3-1

That's 21 classes with at least 3 wins against Michigan. Hopefully the class of 2005 will be number 22...

This brings back alot of great memories of the outstanding class of 1975, which was to me the greatest assembly of talent that we ever had and will likely ever have here. Not only by their overall record, but by the fact that fought in 4 of the most epic battles in the history of "The Game."

That '75 team had some backfield, huh?

Brian Baschnagel at wingback, and these 3 accomplishments by different guys:

Big-10 MVP - Corny Greene
Nation's leading scorer - Pete Johnson
Heisman #2 for #45

I'm pretty certain that no other backfield in college football history has ever had 3 such significant accomplishments/awards by 3 separate teammates in the same year.

Here's a bit of trivia for you Bill or for anyone else out there. On the 1975 TOSU Buckeyes, which backfield player had the highest yards-per-carry average? (Minimum of 20 carries)

Well, i'm going to guess it's definitely not Pete Johnson, and Archie would be too easy to guess. So how about Corny Greene?

I know he was used mainly as a blocker and pass receiver, but I think he probably had at least 20 carries so I'll guess Brian Baschnagel.

Actually, it was Jeff Logan. Jeff had 23 carries that year for 170 yards, a whopping 7.3 ypc. Here's a breakdown of the rushing numbers that year.

Archie:
262 Carries, 1476 yards, 4 TD's, 5.5 ypc

Pete:
227 Carries, 1061 yards, 25!!!! TD's, 4.6 ypc.

Corny:
136 Carries, 683 yards, 8 TD's, 3.8 ypc.

Basch:
15 Carries, 113 yards, 1 TD, 7.2 ypc.

Roach:
18 Carries, 144 yards, 8.0 ypc.

Gerald:
16 Carries, 146 yards, 3 TD's, 8.6 ypc.

The overall team totals were:
729 Carries, 3,913 yards, 44 TD's, 5.0 ypc. Amazing!!

What's even more amazing is that these numbers were the worst of the three years that these guys played together. Check this out.

1974 Rushing Numbers:
734 Carries, 4400 yards, 48 TD's, 5.7 ypc.

1973 Rushing Numbers:
728 Carries, 4082 yards, 47 TD's, 5.3 ypc.

Oh, to be able to run the ball again one day.
