Chuckie, but only because his billing is so over the top. I think he's a good coach, but not nearly as great as the hype surrounding him. And I agree with the other poster who said the jury is still out on Weiss.

Iowa may have self-destructed this year, but I don't see anyone hyping the coach, either. I think they are definitely a better team with a better program than their season suggests. Whatcha gonna do? "Next season..."

Not anymore, but about 4 years ago Kirk Ferentz not only walked on water, he created the water first...

Agreed. His name was being tossed around for some higher profile (higher $$) jobs, both in college and the NFL. He stuck around and his value has plummeted since.

Um, let's see here.... Carr has a ring, Fulmer has a ring, Stoops has a ring... How the hell are those guys even on the list? If the Buckeyes lose on Monday, should we add JT?

So, it's either Ferentz or Weis, neither of whom has acocmplished anything at the college level. However, at least Weis had plenty of success as an OC for a three-time Super Bowl winner, while Ferentz worked as an OL coach for a semi-pro team. Kirk gets my vote, and it's not even close.

I agree with the Ferentz call but you don't see someone like Phil Fulmer getting the least out of some of the best recruits in the nation since that title being labeled an overrated coach?

A National title doesn't a good coach make.

Just look at Tubby Smith in basketball.

BTW, The Volunteers can thank Clint Stoerner for that National title.

I'm saying other....I think Urban Meyer is overrated. Its not becuase we are playing Florida next week I just think he is been overrated since Utah.
 He went from Utah to Florida and has had good results there. How does he get to be overated? Granted he has Zook's players but he has bonded them together.
I think he has done a good job.

Ferentz, and it ain't even close. He's milked his 2002 campaign for all it's worth. His teams' single best season was one in which he didn't play the best team in his conference, didn't beat his rival, and got pasted in a bowl game. Am I the only one that realizes that St. Ferentz went 6-7 this year? That's a LOSING season, and even getting to 6 wins required a marathon goal line stand against Syracuse (Syracuse?!) and a game against I-AA Montana. Ferentz has three losing seasons on his resume in his eight years at Iowa.

I'm guessing Ferentz's reign atop the Big Ten lasts as long as Gary Barnett's did -- which is to say, We're going to dodge all the good teams this year and still not win the conference outright, plus we'll get smoked in our bowl ... but hey, it's all good.

All valid points, BUT....
